Remember Attrition?

Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens, and Onterrio Smith were all on the same team at one point.

That might be the greatest collection of running back talent on a team other than Miami's 2001 team.

Thanks Shades, hopefully thats under control now. But I remember doing the count when Dooley started his first fall camp... we had lost 45 scholly players
starting the day Fulmer was bounced up to that point. Not defending Dooley but that was a ready made disaster.

Better than Miami imo.

Remember all the angst on the boards a year ago about our abnormally high attrition rates?

If Nieko Creamer does end up transferring, that will make, what, 1? For the 2016 offseason?

How you like me now, the stat says. :)

still a few months to go. expect a few more.

plans are to sign 25 in 2017 class which means "attrition" rate required to do that is 12 more under classmen after Creamer

We could have a good number of underclassmen declaring for the draft next year too. The numbers usually work themselves out.

He has aspirations to get to the league. Win east might do it.

Butch Jones has aspirations to coach in the NFL? I have never read that anywhere and I think his offensive system would be a tough sell to an NFL GM. It's a passing league now...also, he has zero experience there aside from an internship with the Bucs from '87-'89.

Yeah, I hope we both misunderstood that, for at least two reasons.

First didn't he say he wanted to coach here for a long time?

Second Larry would have just killed our recruiting efforts by saying Butch is wanting to leave in next couple of years.

He'd be an awful, awful NFL coach.

Why? He coaches more like a CEO vs taking over an aspect of game.

As for recruiting, the guy that comes behind Butch would always have a resource to NFL. If butch left for NFL it would mean we are a College Football power and he would leave program in great shape. Fans would love him and he will always love here.

Win, Win imo.

agree with your assessments but that doesn't mean he can't have desires to get there...

I am sure that is hurting recruiting, but even if that (lawsuit) was not going on, publically saying Butch wants to go to NFL in a year or two would/will hurt. Most recruits want to play for a head coach they believe will be there while at school.

Well no disrespect, but it sounds like I was not only person that has not heard that. I guess Butch was just giving his usual coach speak when he said he wanted to be here for a long time.

Butch does not seem like a NFL coach. I think he has a good thing going. I believe Saban will leave soon and then Butch can take over as the best coach/recruiter in the SEC.

Pffft... some people talk out of their butts on here. It's "not a big secret" that Butch Jones aspires to coach in the NFL when he has never gone on the record with any such statement? :good!:

Seems to me that adult players will laugh his slogans, catch phrases and motivating techniques out of the building.

Couldn't be an in between thing? Having enough talent to be unable to promise immediate playing time, but not actually a top team yet, so can't demonstrate real promise of playing for one of the premier teams. See what happens to the recruiting class if this team performs like the predictions are running.
