JD must improve his throw game to improve his draft stock . He may opt to follow his career path rather than playing at the next level. Glad he's a Vol!

...in terms of NFL potential.

Next men up: Top QB talents in the CFB pipeline - NFL.com

He has Dobbs grouped with Brad Kaaya as QBs with potential for GREATNESS at the next level.

Interestingly, he has Dobbs rated higher than Chad Kelly who some think is currently the best QB in the SEC.

If Dobbs has any shot at being a high draft pick his completion pct. needs to be abive 65% this season and he needs to show he can be way more accurate with the long ball.

If we win the national title, we will have AT LEAST 4 first rounders.

Dobbs, Sutton, Barnett, and Hurd. All 4 have first round talent. They just need the hype. Winning a national title provides the hype that got 5 Ohio State players drafted in the first round this year.

I think it's gonna be tough for Hurd and Dobbs to get first round grades, unless they put up some ridiculous numbers and answer questions about their weaknesses (Break away speed, Accuracy). I actually think Hurd has a better chance of going in the 1st, between him and Dobbs. Three first rounders is possible, but it's likely gonna be Barnett, JRM, and Sutton.

Clemson claims to be WR U these days - that might be why Watson is better at passing

They definitely had better WRs last year. We lost 3 of our 4 leading receivers from 2014 to injury or dismissal (Pig Howard, Marquez North, and Jason Croom). We had to rely on a true freshmen that switched from QB and another that less than a year removed from an ACL tear.

Our WR play should improve a lot this season.

So Alabama Qbs dont have talent ? Why are they all 5 stars then ? Cant wait for Bamawriter to counter this one

Actually they're not. Jake Coker was a low 3 star coming out of high school. Blake Sims was an athlete. AJ McCarron was a national recruit but only a 4 star.

Blake Barnett is really their first big time 5 star QB.

His completion percentage will be 65-69% this year.

I don't think you realize how bad our WR play was last year. Our guys couldn't separate. With improvement from Preston and Jauan. As well as 6 new WRs, we should be good once again in that department next season. Also another year of improvement along the o-line can't hurt.

Love JRM but he's not a first rounder. He simply lacks the physical tools. Unless he runs a 4.4 at the combine like Darron Lee, he's too undersized to go early. Hopefully he sneaks into the 2nd-3rd round.

Dobbs and Hurd have first round potential because they have the physical tools. Both have prototypical size and speed for the position. Now it's about checking the other boxes to becoming a first rounder. (1) Put up big time stats in 2016. (2) Win a lot of games. (3) Dominate big time opponents in big games.

If that happens I believe Dobbs and Hurd go in the first round.

It's not because of any of the current WRs on the roster this year or last. It's because of current NFL WRs from Clemson.....primarily DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant....Deshaun has never played with any of those guys.

Dobbs may make a CFL roster B4 he becomes a rocket scientist. To intimate a 1st round NFL pick is certainly wearing orange tinted glasses. This makes reading off season posts fun.

Simms was the #1 QB in the cycle, but busted.

Dobbs doesn't have 1st round potential. Doesn't have the accuracy, touch, nor the arm strength. Same skillset as Watson? Please update this thread when Dobbs has a game as good as the one Watson had vs Bama.

Georgia 2015 (430 total yards and 5 TDs) and South Carolina 2014 (467 total yards and 5 TDs).

For the record, Watson had 478 total yards and 4 TDs against Bama. With about 80 of those yards coming in garbage time after Alabama started playing prevent defense.

All of Dobbs yardage came with the opponent not playing prevent defense.

Plus he won both games. Something Watson can't say in the matchup versus Alabama.

Barnett, Sutton, Martin and JRM all have 1st round potential next year.

Maybin's physical skillset is very high. He could have played SS or RB at UT. He runs as fast laterally as does straight forward. Very good hips and feet. His use of hands is superb. And he has very good natural strength which can be trained for the combine.

Intangibles: Off the charts imo.
Great leader. Great instincts. Very intelligent. And has a sense to alter the momentum of the game.

He is the best linebacker we have had in a long long time.

He can easily add 10 pounds training for the combine. Most of that will be used to up his bench and 40.

6'0" 235 lbs
4.55 40
36 inch vertical
3.9 cone drill

He can play linbacker for any scheme in the league.

DFH, Maybin isnt just some kid out there playing with a bunch of heart and determination. Hes physically whipping the opponent most of the time. You need to look at him a lot closer. Hes a very special talent. could be another
Luke Kuechly...

DFH, reminded me of that finacial services ad.

So goes the team, so goes their draft status. After we ball out and win a Heisman, the SEC Championship, and the Narional Championship, 1st round will no longer be a "myth".

Jump higher Vols.

Why dont Alabama Qbs get any draft love ?

Game managers handing off to studs behind brick wall of lineman tossing to athletic juggernauts. Not exactly got to be finely tuned machines at qb with thos pieces around you. Just try not to wet the bed and follow the game plans.
