Just out of curiosity, why would this offense change that much with JG behind center?
Edit: speaking strictly on playing style and not on experience.
I'm not sold on Dormady, Jarrett Guarantano is going to be hard to keep off the field in 2017.
You're comparing a kid with only high school film to someone that we have seen on the field and has game experience. Even if it is garbage time that is an extremely ignorant statement. Definition of jumping to conclusions.
We haven't seen that much more of Dormady than HS film. He has literally thrown only 22 passes. JG was much more highly thought of and has more natural ability. Dormady has been ok in the time he has played. JG looks to be a dynamic passer and runner. It will be hard to keep the best dt qb off the field. Dormady is very far from having done enough to show he should be the qb after Dobbs.
Sheriron Jones looked to be a dynamic passer and runner as well before getting to Tennessee but he's not sniffing the second string QB role thst QD currently has locked down.
I'm all good with JG coming in, being outstanding and becoming both the starter in 2017 and the next great Tennessee QB. Everything to this point about our QB situation and the players involved is pure speculation. I just want the best player leading our offense post-Dobbs and I couldn't care less who it is.

Guarantano is a lot more high profile coming in than Jones. He's a consensus top 100 player nationally. Jones wasn't. He made the Elite 11. Jones didn't.
Its wrong to act like they are on the same level. Guarantano is definitely coming in as a much better prospect ON PAPER.
First off, not once have I said, suggested or otherwise acted like Jones and JG are on the "same level". I don't know if they are or not....neither do you. You're jumping to some assumption that has no basis. I've only discussed QD and Jones. All I've said is that a whole lot of people on VN said QD would be the odd man out of the QB competition once Sheriron got to Knoxville, yet it was Jones who transferred right after the bowl game.
The point is, until JG gets on campus, into fall camp and everyone gets a look at him, we don't know what we truly have in him. That's true for all players. As an example, before they actually strapped em up and started competing in the summer of 2014, who'd you think was more likely to be the stud freshman defensive player......Derek Barnett or Dillon Bates? (Hint: it wasn't Derek).
Yes, on paper, JG looks fantastic, has all the measurables, is an elite prospect. I personally can't wait to see him. But no one is a lock and until he shows he's "the man", he's only a great prospect with an apparent ton of potential.
I hope we bring him along in 2017 the same way we brought Dormady along last year and this upcoming one. Spot duty here and there.
