Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Corsaro schools:

Baylor
Indiana
Michigan
Tennessee
Texas
UCLA
Washington

Only has four official visits to use, so she may visit some of these unofficially.

Does Baylor even have enough room? Not surprise that she eliminated Kentucky. That's a lot of schools to visit if she wants to commit by the end of the month.

Wow Washington seems to be the top school for Inoescu so hopefully she commits soon and Corsaro eliminates them. She is not just a shooter she has a lot of defensive ability and a lot of length that you want in a player. She would be huge for us.

Hopefully UCLA is to far from home and Baylor is full and so is Texas. That would bring it down to us, Indiana, and Michigan. Hopefully we could win that battle.

Texas and Michigan only have one scholarship to offer.

There's not even a comparison. If you've ever lived in Texas, its flat!.. Michigan is cold. UT is right down the road from the most visited park in the USA. . . Downright picturesque.

With a team rich in tradition, that is on its way back to national contention.

Think long, think wrong!

We NEED this girl yesterday. But will she be a bust in Orange? I feel like our Lady Vols are suffering through another Dooley era.

As long as Holly continues to make the good decisions she has begun to make, I am backing her fully. Reaves was a good one. Kamera and Nunn were both excellent choices. Hw may have taken a while to stamp her idnetity on this team, but as far as what I have seen lately, I feel good about the future.

And so do the girls.

Since she was committed to Kentucky, maybe she wants to play in the SEC?

Now you're cooking with gas V7.... The SEC is and will continue to be the standard for WCBB. Yes uconn and Geno hold the cards as the top of the heap (for now),,, But if you want to play the best day in and day out, you have to play in the SEC... Otherwise, you're gaining fame playing inferior opponents. And that WILL ultimately catch up to them.

Sorry wasn't saying Holly was Dooley or mean to imply that. But as I reread my statement it sounded that way. I just meant the bad luck in some games and the less than stellar recruiting.

I have conversed with you long enough to know where your heart is cowboy. I would never question it. NEVER!

I'm sure the ACC and Pac 12 would disagree with you on that statement

The only thing the SEC holds true to is the physicality of the game. The teams may not be that GOOD on a national level but the physical nature of SEC makes it a tough league....IMO

When UCONN's time at the top is over of course. But there is so much parity in women's hoops that is going to be fun to watch the next decade. The days of 1 team dominating will be over. Girls hoops is taking on the softball role. For the longest the west coast ruled softball. Parity is taking over because of tv and more and more youth getting involved in the sport.

True. The SEC has had a lot of good teams but no great teams recently. Only one SEC team in the final four in the last 8 years.

top 20 SOS (strength of schedule for 2015-16:

  1. TENNESSEE
  2. NOTRE DAME
  3. OHIC STATE
  4. UCLA
  5. STANFORD
  6. LSU
  7. CALIFORNIA
  8. BAYLOR
  9. SOUTH CAROLINA
  10. TEXAS AM
  11. KENTUCKY
  12. AZ STATE
  13. RUTGERS
  14. OREGON ST
  15. USC
  16. SURACUSE
  17. COLORADO
  18. KANSAS ST
  19. UCONN
  20. TEXAS

SEC: four of the top ten
PAC: 12 three of the top ten
ACC: two of the top ten

If you go by SOS, SEC is definitely higher.

One thing I love about Warlick....she's not afraid of competition. Reminiscent of Pat. Tennessee has always been known to play tough schedules...always!

Especially next year. So far, we have on the schedule:

Penn State (away)
ETSU (away)
Stanford (home)
Notre Dame (home)
Baylor (home)
Texas (away)
Duke (not sure)

I love Holly's desire to play the best, but she needs to figure out how to beat the best. I see at least 4 to 5 losses on that list. I can see her beating Duke because their HC is a very good recruiter but not one of the best game coaches. This schedule will give us a realistic look at where the LV program really stands.

To me, Holly has shown better decision-making in the past few months than at any time of her HC career. You have to look at her progress like you look at any move in upper management.... When a manager becomes a CEO, they try to re-write the book. Then they settle in and see that the prior CEO's tenure and understand that the path for success is already laid out for them. Only then do they start to succeed.

I am thinking that HW is on this track. Pat listened to every word spoken to her and everything she saw. During the 1996 SEC tourney, I saw a player from another SEC team doing two ball drills. I chimed in and showed her two more drills (2-ball: hi-low and crossovers). Pat stopped in the hallway and watched me instruct that drill for a good 2 minutes. Then she acknowledged me with a smile and a nod and walked on... Little things like that are the things I think of when I profess my loyalty to the UT program. Little things like that made me a Vol4life.... HW, I am sure has seen things like this and will ultimately do what Pat did to succeed.

Someone will be removed I believe...want to see if we still play Oregon state and I think we may replace Notre dame for duke as we are staring an series with them ..and notre dame series contract was ended this yeae

I have been reading a very interesting book, "You Win in the Locker Room First". It is a collaboration written by Jon Gordon and Mike Smith. Smith is the former coach of the Atl Falcons. This one section stuck out to me and made me think of the CHW CPS connection.

"“How many times in sports have we seen the hot assistant coach from a highly successful program get hired and fail miserably? It happens quite often in sports and business. The reason for failure is that new leaders come into a team or organization and attempt to mimic the leadership style of the head coach or CEO from their previous jobs instead of being the person they truly are. They believe that if they do it exactly the same way, they will have the same amount of success. We have seen time after time that it is a recipe for disaster. It is difficult to be a genuine leader if you are making decisions for your team or organization solely because that is the way the previous team did it, or that's how someone else did it. Leadership doesn't work like this. No two teams or organizations are the same. Each will have a different leadership structure and organizational culture that you will have to deal with. You must be the person who you have always been and use all of the experiences that you have had throughout your career to mold and create your own
style of leadership. What worked for one leader and coach may not work for you. One person might have the kind of personality that is tough but likeable, and another might be tough but not likeable at all. Some people might be able to lead a certain way because of the experiences they have had, the success they have earned, and the respect they have garnered. If you try to lead like them without having gone through the same experiences, it won't work for you.”

No, Duke is not replacing ND on the schedule. Muffett confirmed the game a couple weeks ago, and it will be in Knoxville. I think OSU was a one and one series for the Oregon girls. We are also recruiting Westbrook, and I don't see Scott giving us a free recruiting trip again.

Let's play Oregon then... Graves is building a solid program there seemingly.

I want ASU, UCLA or USC away games... So I can make the easy drive to see my Lady Vols play.

I have always hoped for NC State, Florida State, Michigan State and Oklahoma series... maybe throw in Iowa State to get a game against a different type of offensive style... or a Minnesota so we can see a high possession/offensive output team (although we wouldn't see much of a defense). All solid programs and would offer new opponents to see come to Knoxville.

Well said, HoopDr... The other side of the proverb is "If you want to get what they have, you have to do what they did"(Self) ... No you don't follow their trail step-per-step, but yes, you do garner the avenues laid before you that created the successes,, that will not contradict your own unique path or course.
