Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Uh, she was our recruiting coordinator, our recruiting this year was a fiasco, as was our on-court performance--and she got sacked. So, yea, there was a major situation--it's just not clear precisely what it was about.
Explain "major" situation...I have yet to see another coach blame lack of recruiting on another coach. The situation was that Holly could not convince the players to play for her!

Hell I know all that .....but what was the situation that was being cited ???

they have no idea. it is highly probable that her and Holly disagreed, and maybe they didn't but she felt more at home in Kentucky. She left prior to Kentucky job opening, but at that level, talks very well could have been in the works. Elzy might have just seen a thankless future here. We continue in elite 8's and get AA's and the fans think we under achieve, or she goes back to Kentucky, gets AA's they get 1, or 2 elite 8's and she is highly wanted as a head coach. She is a go getter, she wants more than an assistant job, and right now, we are not the factory for moving forward. You coach here, then you go somewhere else. I think DeMoss was the only coach that moved to head coach at a big time job from the UT staff. She is gone, and there will never be a clear reason known, unless she tells it.

The reporter who covers the team for the KNS could easily find out what the situation was by talking to Elzy herself or to one of the other UT assistants or someone within the program on a not-for-attribution basis--meaning a source who is not named. But he doesn't seem too aggressive.

No doubt each was disgruntled with the other for various reasons, and as usually happens when two people are disenchanted with each other, it came to a head--and HW being the head coach, pushed Elzy out.

My own take is it will probably be hard to beat Oregon State and SC and Louisville will have to run off some more players to have scholarships.

Oregon State has a really good shot with Westbrook, even moreso if Ionescu goes there. SC probably has the best shot as far as schools out east (her parents love the school and Dawn)... but you can never count out schools like Notre Dame (always guard/wing friendly), Louisville (a coach who seemingly gives them a shot with any player), and Tennessee (consistently gets players from the Pacific Northwest). These 5 seem like the favorites based off of her interactions.

Number 44 in the 2016 class Giurantes to Texas Tech. Taylor Johnson Grad transfer 5'7" guard enrolling at Louisville. This was supposedly their last available scholarship taling them out of the running for Chatrice White.

First of all it was a a bad idea to just give Holly the head coaching job.

Evina Westbrook AAU teammate # 24 rank player Loretta Kakala committed to Louisville last night.

At the end of the day most of the major recruits have been staying in their home state or going to UConn. Dawn Staley and SC have been great the last 6 years because players like Coates and Wilson, both from SC, stayed in SC. Who is the great top 5 player from TN that the Lady Vols have lost from 2012-2016? Zero because there have been none from TN. It takes time people and when you lose a hall of fame coach like Pat Summit, the top players are going to gravitate towards other top coaches like Geno so unless UT was going to hire Geno from UConn, Holly Warlick was a fine choice for head coach. And remember these high school seniors have grown up watching (since 5th grade) UConn win 3 championships with Maya Moore, 1 with Grinder at Baylor and another 4 with Stewart at UConn. Half of those 8 were with Pat as the head coach. The landscape has changed but hopefully we are about to push passed the Elite 8, which we have done 3 of the last 4 years with key injuries to posts and point guards, and break back into the Final 4 and a Championship. With that you will see the UT Lady Vols reemerge as a power team for years to come.

We've lost Dangerfield number 3 and Carter 20's in 2016.

We've lost Dangerfield and Carter which were two top ten players.

Carter and Dangerfield are in the upcoming 2016-17 class which I was not including. Dangerfield is listed as a top 5 player but Carter is not although from what I hear she is a great player and can score! But the players that are carrying these teams are the stretch 4s and 5s. I thought Ohio State was going to be trouble for the Lady Vols because of Mitchell but a 5'8" guard just can't do the damage a Stewart and Wilson can at 6'3". The only player like that in TN is Dorie Harrison, Izzy's sister that is in the class of 2017 but I don't think she compares to Wilson or Stewart coming out of high school

What would really make us a legitimate contender top ten team and SEC title contender would be to add a three point shooter with all around skills that could start. We could then move Diamond to the three position and that player to the two position. We could use Cooper and Reynolds at the point and Nared could play some four and backup the three. Nunn and Russell inside gives us very close to what we had inside last season, more shot blocking, and hopefully an improved Russell. I don't see our team competing for the title if we can't sign a zone buster to keep defenses honest. If we score 70 points per game we only lose 4 games instead of 14 last year. Biggest flaw in the team is three point shooting and so far it hasn't been addressed. The offense would go 10 possessions or more without scoring a point last season and no defense can stand that type of offensive incompetence.

Yes Jordan is focused for the off season...as is Diamond. The girls know next year is the year to make things happen!

Danielle Patterson down to four Tennessee, Notre Dame, St Johns, and Virginia. She will visit Tennessee and Notre Dame in the fall.

So ESPN updated some new rankings for the class of '17. KK went from being ranked the 5th overall player down to 38 and I don't even see Dorie Harrison on the list anymore. Anyone know why this might be? Does anyone have links to other recruit ranking services? Thanks!

Probably bad AAU showing/Boo Williams Invitational Play. I wonder if that means that we stop recruiting Harrison like we did McCune when she dropped out of the Top 100 and if that makes us no longer interested in KK, mtsuraider can you answer that or is it too soon to say?

And these rankings will change again at the end of the summer once AAU wraps up. These current numbers are reflective of high school basketball (junior year) season that is done. (to my understanding)

Patterson, Cooks, KK, Dodson, Hayes, Westbrook, L. Williams are just a couple of bigs in this list that have us on their list. But believe me this list will change 10 more times, don't put a lot of stock in this. And yes, we are still looking at Harrison!

Patterson really likes Tennessee, and it will likely be between us and ND for her.

Georgia is throwing everything they have at KK and Dodson to keep them in state, and it could work. Likely Tennessee or Georgia for both.

I think Dorie & Hayes ultimately comes here.

We are looking at Westbrook, but getting her off the West Coast will be tough. We are also looking at Eleah Parker, 6'4" Post, from NC and Cooks, 6'4" F from Wisconsin. Also looking at Jade Williams, but she will be hard to pull from Texas.

The net is VERY wide for 2017.
