I'm not sure, but I can put 2 and 2 together. Especially when he said it's early in the process. My guess is the 6'1" McDonald's All-American who just decommitted from UK.
That's who I thought it was there are also other players who have decided to decommit (a girl at Nebraska) as well as a few girls who are trying to get out of the whole mess at La Tech that's why I was asking
When he said she can help which means she can come in right away and make an impact. I'm thinking it's the 6'1" guard. To be honest mlindsay, if you're not subscribed to The Summitt posters from their are not going to spill to much recruiting information. That's by far the only thing I miss from subscribing there. Oh well. We will know when whomever the mystery player signs. With who Holly is going after in the 2017 class, this mystery player must be the 5* guard.
Has Carter asked to be released from her commitment to Vanderbilt? Why would any Vanderbilt player swap a Vanderbilt degree for one from a public school? Fifteen years from now, a Vanderbilt (or Duke, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tufts) degree will open a lot of doors for a woman. Her basketball career will not last forever.
Normally, a school will not grant a release (and I have not heard of any of the players asking for one yet) until the new coach is in place and has had a chance to talk to all the players on the team.
I want to know why we have to wait around hoping the turmoil at uk and vandy might send a very good prospect our way! Why are we not getting them in the first place? Obviously, the Elzy situation was a big reason--but seriously, there is no reason vandy and uk--two programs that have won nothing, ever, and are not going to win anything--should be beating us for top players.
I think there may have been to narrow a focus on recruiting. I think instead of going after the top fifty players we focused to much on four or five players. I am hoping that Coach Reaves is a person that doesn't have to use a list and can evaluate players from seeing them play. There are plenty of players that never make a top 50 list that are extremely good players.
First commitments we need in that class are Hayes and Harrison then try to add the Georgia players or whomever seems to have the most interest. I think we need at least five players in that class maybe six as Diamond and even Mercedes may not be coming back as seniors.
I agree! If Vandy gets a great coach we might be in trouble recruiting wise in the state because Harrison isn't a lock to come here I don't believe (even though her sisters attended) she might want to try her hand at their dad's alma mater (Vandy) also with the amount of guards we have Hayes could decide she wants to stay local at a place where she could possibly start as a freshman. We really have to get the ball rolling.
