I understand Florida has had our number for several years but some of our fans acting like the Florida game only matters if we have a successful season or not, is pretty comical. Last time I checked, every game on our schedule matters. Just win for lords sake.

Correct. Its also very comical when some put the outcome of a game solely on a coach. Butch gets all the heat for a loss and never full credit for a win. Its pure silliness.

Sometimes Georgia. I remember before last season, people would say, "Well he hasn't beaten Florida, Georgia or Bama."

After we beat them, some resorted to calling Georgia a depleted team. Sure Chubb's injury was huge, but a change in the outcome of the game huge? We'll never know.

Gus should be at the top of this list then Sumlin. We have to remember their are still 120 days or so before football so we will see many guessing games. It is all for fun so let us enjoy the banter.

I haven't seen anyone say that. UGA was a good win. All three losses to UF however were BAD.

I can see that one. For me personally, I didn't really think of it that way, there were two separate issues. In other words, I gave him full credit for the win (and honestly, the previous 2 close losses), but I think it could be argued to what degree it was a "big win".

For example, given the state of their program last year, if we had beaten say Bama as well, would you have said that the wins over those two were as equally impressive? The obvious answer is no, but in no way does Jones not get "credit" for finally beating one of the big 3 on our schedule....especially given the manner in which we won the game coming back from 21 points down. Jmo, hope it makes sense.

Depends on how you define "hot seat," I think.

First definition I found was this:

"Being in the hot seat", an expression for a high-pressure situation in which a great deal of attention and scrutiny is focused on a person or organization.

If that's the definition to use, Butch and the program are definitely on the hot seat this year; expectations and scrutiny have not been this high in a decade.

But if this is the definition:

In an uncomfortable or embarrassing situation, usually by being subjected to severe criticism, with the potential for being fired.

Then no, not at all.

Aside from the Title IX accusation, it's all positive at this point. All the scrutiny is of the "high expectations" variety. That's the kind of attention you want.

Being featured on Sportscenter for choking away multiple big games, was uncomfortable for many. Did you sleep through last fall?

You seem just to want to argue for argument's sake. I'm not into that.

"Choking away big games" is a grossly simplistic view of the 2015 season. If you believe that Butch is at risk of being fired in 2016, or even in 2017, because of close games that did not go Team 119's way, then you badly misinterpret his situation as our head coach.

Simple as that. If "hot seat" = close scrutiny and high expectations, then the term fits. If, however, "hot seat" = job risk, then it is completely inappropriate to CBJ's situation today.

DAJ's metrics (which I trust) say we were not the team with more raw talent in 2014, and weren't quite as good in 2015 either, from a pure talent perspective.

So no, not obvious at all.

And I believe we were the better team each time. That's why we took 2 score leads into the 4th quarter each time....through 3/4 of the game each year, we had full control of the game, only to collapse and lose to two Florida teams that had little to no business beating us. I contend that it was much more mental and emotional than it was physical.

Butch is not in any danger of being fired for lack of job performance. Any pressure on CBJ is all good pressure. Brick by brick he has rebuilt Big Orange football, and reignited the enthusiasm of the fan base.
Now, he can field a team that can realistically expect to win every game we play this fall. The hopes and expectations for Team 120 are, rightly IMO, stratospheric. The "heat" for CBJ will become a factor if 120 fails to win the East....or loses to FL....or we make key coaching calls that flop and later look like stupid pet tricks.
We know this team. The base loves this team. And 120 is Very talented. This team has more stars than Grauman's Chinese Theatre. They should win about every game, beat FL, and win the SEC East. If that equals heat for CBJ, then that's a good thing, because he has built a team that can win it all.

And "gators" just shows that you're not ready for it to be the year 2003, let alone 2016. Quit with this crap, particularly the last one. Fans like you make us all look stupid.

To your point, Vandy was way more legit than Kentucky last year, based on their defense alone. If they can stop the carousel at QB and start strong next year, they could win 5 or 6 next year.

By my calcs, UT has had the less talented team on the field during every one of the last 11 losses.
