Do any of you think that, God forbid the fair weather fans of our beloved VOLS Butch Jones would want PEYTON Manninng,not that he would be but again"gloom&doom fans" looking over his shoulder as a replacement #delusional

Just think what would happen if a Peyton coached QB failed to be one of the best passing QBs in the country? I mean it would be all his fault. Because when it comes to Tennessee, its always the coaches fault and very rarely the players.

I don't want Peyton Manning anywhere near our football program. If he becomes the QB coach, our stupid fan base would be calling for his head if our QB didn't progress the way they wanted him too in an certain amount of time. It would be all his fault cause it's always the coach's fault and not the players. That's been Tennessee's fan base whole philosophy. Peyton Manning deserves better than taking criticism as a coach.

Peyton isn't going into coaching ever. Why work that hard when you don't need to? He is going to take time off. Spend time with his family. If he dives back in it will be part of minority ownership in a team or front office gig. Even the front office gig sounds like too much work but he is young. Otherwise it's broadcasting. Gruden pulls in 6 million a year doing it. I could see PM pulling In that much as well.

Bird won the Eastern conference and COY, IIRC.

The difference between Manning and the 4 you mentioned is that Manning was great because of his understanding of the game and what he brought in terms of planning, preparation, and execution. It wasn't because he was a 6' 9" PG who could float across the court and improv like Magic. It wasn't cause he could beat everybody off the dribble like Thomas. Those guys got by on physical ability.

Larry Bird was a good coach. He just chose not to do it very long. In his 3 seasons with the Indiana Pacers they had a record of 147-67 (.687 Pct.) and lost in the Eastern Conference Finals twice (Bulls in '98, Knicks in '99) and lost in the NBA Finals once (Lakers in '00). They won the Central Division in both '99 and '00. That was as good as any coach was going to do with that team. Nobody was going to beat the '98 Bulls or the '00 Lakers with the Pacers but he came close.

Bar none, he's the best and people who know football all say it. It's more like:

"The cornerback is selling out on the hitch. Watch for the offense to run a double move at some point."

Then the offense gets a long TD off a double move. I can't even count how many times CC has been right about **** like that.

I think Manning need to be in a position of authority, QB coach is not such a position.

I'm not jumping on the Butch train I wanted to hire him over Kiffin but look at the the nfl draft the past few years & see how far kiiiffin & Fooley set us back. If you can't see DRASTIC improvement at every position you have lost your d$&@n mind ,not only his own recruits but the ones he inherited!

I hope he stays away from coaching and NFL commentary--the world does not need another former star talking head giving us his 20 second spin on the first half. TV idiocy: we could pick one smart NFL and let him really analyze a game before/after and at the half --but it would be bigger and better if we got 8 former stars, sit them next to each other and let them each talk for 15 seconds! American excess....He could be the next John Elway--just lowball everybody!

Peyton would deserve better than to hafta take crap from anybody for any reason. He has enough money to buy Fantasy Island, the next thing he does won't have anything to do with money, but everything to do with what he wants to do. If the man wants to come and spend time on The Hill, so be it. I he wants to be QB coach let him. The man has faced down several 300+ lbs grown men with bad intentions on a weekly basic for over 20 years, you think that a hand full of misguided fans would phase him one little bit.
You already have Jackwagon Vol fans that give him grief about his time at UT and he still loves the place.
