2016 Election Thread Part Deux

At what point does the GOP stop their Anti-Trump rally and begin to see that the inevitable is coming and begin to back him? Is it after Indiana polls close?
Talk about eating crow....

I don't think they will. I'm beginning to believe they will throw in the towel as they did in '08 with the McCain nomination and concentrate on the down ticket.

It's too late. They'll have to back off bashing him so relentlessly, but no one will believe them if they start saying they support him. Everyone loves a winner, and I guess if he wins they'll try to mend fences. But even then, in the real power circles, he will be ostracized.

Compared to the waffling Trump has done this means what? Politicians say stuff like this bc it's a part of the campaign process.

For real? I think you take me for a Trump supporter. And I am not in the least.

However, it's yet another example of the pandering Hillary will do regardless of the situation. How in the hell can she go on record by saying "we're going to put a lot of coal companies out of business" and then go on to campaign in West Virginia of all places and say "I misspoke" less than two months later?

It's pure pandering BS and you know it.

So with the nomination process more or less decided (I don't think the GOP goes contested now) what should we expect at the conventions. I was reading yesterday that both Philly and Cleveland received $50 million in Justice Department grants to buy equipment. Cleveland is using $20 million for equipment (buying additional riot suits, batons, tactical armor, barricades, etc) and the remainder on personnel expenses. In addition they are trying to recruit suburban officers to assist and I've seen the total force requirements for the RNC as high as 5,000 officers. Given Trump's ability to attract the lowest common denominator among the protesters I expect violence to occur during the convention week. So are we going to see Chicago '68 level violence or do you think nothing will happen at all? In addition do you think we'll see anything from the DNC this year from Bernie supporters?

Stumble, stumble Hillary...

Clinton confronted by laid-off coal worker at West Virginia campaign stop | Fox News

Oh?

Clinton: 'We're Going to Put a Lot of Coal Miners and Coal Companies Out of Business' | The Weekly Standard

I'm not sure how your comments could have been a mistake...other than you now pandering to yet another crowd.

Luckily coal miners see right through her nonsense. And she's certainly not helping Joe Manchin in the process either.

It is indeed a pretty pathetic walk-back effort by her. If you are going to go into W.Va. and face miners, when you have said over and over again that you aim to reduce our reliance on coal and inevitably hurt that industry, you ought to expect these questions and be prepared to defend your position against a hostile crowd.

This weak sauce "what i meant was" is just painful to listen to because its an obvious lie.

Hillary is an idiot. She should proudly take ownership of her "out of business" statement. Coal is popular only in a few counties of a few states. Most of America realizes that coal is an expensive, dirty and non renewable source of energy. It hasn't even been good for miners and mining towns. The miners hardly eked out a living while Mr. Peabody and a few others made off with the wealth.

I'm not saying any politician should abandon a segment of society or a region but bringing a little education to Appalachia would go a long way toward solving some of their problems.

Two part answer.

First the DNC convention. I think you'll see a lot of Bernie supporters playing the same role as Ron Paul supporters have in the past. Get their message known and out there, but not in a violent way.

As for the GOP convention, yes I'd imagine there will be violence and protests. Sponsored in part by the normal riffraff of leftist groups. How out of control it gets is another matter entirely. I think with the overwhelming presence of police at the convention, most protesters won't get out of line as much as you'd think. However, when you take the professional instigators and add them into the mix, you'll have all sorts of YouTube worthy film.

When I used to run a wholesale route in SW Virginia during the 90's, the miners were very well paid compared to most workers with the same level of education.

I willingly criticize her when she deserves it, and she deserved it for this.

Unlike some of your brethren, I can criticize negatives but also appreciate other qualities, in the same person, at the same time.

The only positive about her. ONLY is that she is married to a Rhodes scholar in economics. That's it. Period. She has absolutely no redeeming qualities of her own. Zero
Zilch.nada.nothing. I could list negatives until I died of old age though. She is a waste of flesh.

Protecting the House is the goal now. The White House and Senate are lost with Trump at the top of the ticket. It doesn't help that 52 of the seats Republicans hold are in districts Obama won in 2012 which will make holding them more different.

Trump is not nor will be the reason the Republicans lose the Senate. It is the POS Senators themselves who are at fault. It's dishonest to say otherwise.

Personally, I'm ready for the Republican party to be gutted.
