Dobbs listed as 2nd best dual-threat QB in SEC

The same could be said for UT

As much as I don't believe Dobbs will ever be a top round draft pick, he is still a good QB at this level. Improvement with his accuracy will put him in the top percent of college QBs IMO.

Last season Ole Miss had by far the better offensive line and Kelly had healthy receivers, including a 1st round draft pick the other day. Now the worm has turned. Kelly won't possess these edges. Who's got the deeper and more experienced OL in '16? The injury bug and very little pass protection provided two-thirds of UT's pass game woes...not gona' be here this time around. I, for one, will be greatly surprised if Dobb's accuracy is going to be far better than most predict. As well, I believe Mister Dobbs will be considered the SEC's premier QB when his name is called in Atlanta. KB. I just don't get your always deriving negative expostulations when superlatives are applied to Mister Dobbs, et al.

About the same round Prescott was picked I would guess - although I havent looked over next years draft prospects at QB yet

This year it will all come down to which O-line gives these athletes time to make a play, I am hoping for Dobbs! How does Ole miss look on their line?

Right now JD is rated the 6th best QB for next year. All along I have been saying that he is on equal with Brandon Harris. If he can get to Dak Prescott level (and I do believe that is his ceiling) then we are in Atlanta. Dak was no slouch college QB.

Yeah I thought Prescott was better than Hackenberg, Kessler, and Brisset but the NFL will never adapt to DT QBs - Cam Newton is a rare example of a DT NFL QB doing well

Def better than Brisset and Kessler. Hackenburg is an enigma though. Uber talented, but, really took a step back with Franklin. He may turn out OK, but, I thought that maybe Petty would be able to step up for the Jets. Guess that's why I am not a NFL GM.

I love Josh Dobbs. Been saying it since he was a freshman. I defended constantly him his first 2 years on VN. I love that he's our QB and face of the program.

He's an outstanding SEC QB, but a middling passer because of some accuracy issues. There is exactly one QB in the SEC better than Josh IMO....Chad Kelly. Not sure how that's "negative". It's based on Kelly's better arm talent and the production he produced last year. I'm hardly alone in believing this, as this article and a handful of "draft experts" validates.

So again, I believe Josh is the second best QB in the conference and one of the top playmaking qbs in the country. We can win and win big with him this year, especially if he improves his downfield accuracy.

Right now here are the QB's rated ahead of Dobbs. Hard to argue against any of these. I think Kaaya, may wind up the best of the bunch:

Deshaun Watson*, QB, Clemson
Height: 6-2. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Projected Round (2017): 1-3.

Brad Kaaya*, QB, Miami
Height: 6-4. Weight: 209.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Projected Round (2017): 1-3.

Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss
Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2017): 2-4.

Luke Falk*, QB, Washington State
Height: 6-4. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
Projected Round (2017): 2-4.

Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
Height: 6-2. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
Projected Round (2017): 3-5.

I hope not. We need them to beat UGA. UGA has an easy schedule as it is

I hope everyone beats uga. These fans up here done have them declared national champs cause Kirby is coach, and Eason is qb.

Absolutely no way Baker Mayfield is 6' 2"

Should have mentioned Walterfootball is source for data on the QB's. Fairly accurate site, but, not the end all. TIFWIW

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was questioning your knowledge, just that the listings of mayfield are way over fluffed. OU lists him at 6' 1" and I still find that hard to believe

I get your point, but Kelly is probably best on both counts. He's a QB with a big, accurate arm who can also run when he needs to very effectively. I don't think Josh can be the best dual threat because of the disparity between his passing and Kelly's, while their running abilities aren't nearly as far apart. Jmo.

If Kelly had half the running talent we have he'd have 1,000 less passing and 300 less rushing yards. He won't survive season this year.

Ohh I agree on the height, looks at best 5'11" to me. Hard to judge on TV though. I basically was talking about the rankings, looks about right going in to this season. Things are fluid though. BTW I don't think JD is 6'4" either, I would shave off a couple of inches on him as well.

Agree 100%. Those rankings seem pretty on point to me, although I personally don't think mayfield is that good of a QB and will have a tough time getting drafted. Similar to the last couple of bama QB's in that their play looks much better than it is based on the talent around them.

But but Georgia will never amount to anything, and Smart is nothing but another Muschamp. They're
going down the toilet. Read that around here somewhere. :eek:lol:

Or.....he had no running game to help balance the offense to keep the defense's he played honest.....and threw for more than 4,000 yards and 31 tds, while adding another 500+ on the ground and 10 more tds. Is he Marcus Mariota? No. But he's a pretty damn good QB....and he did all that in his first year at OleMiss.

You're probably close to the mark on the 5'11 height of Mayfield. I've been up close to him and that 6'1 is exaggerated.
