Post Spring Practice Top 25

I truly think LSU is going to flop again this year. Not in a 'terrible' way, but I think they'll fall far short of the 'win the SEC West, win the SEC, go to the playoffs' hype. Maybe around 9-3. I just don't think Harris is the QB to get them there.

I would actually switch Ohio State and Oklahoma.

I also think Baylor, Stanford (depending on QB play), and possibly UCLA (my darkhorse!) could be thrown into the national picture mix.

Edit: Can't forget Houston either (see 2006 Boise State...)
The sports media loves Stanford and McCaffrey, makes for a great story. I think the young man is really good, but he played about 75% of the season where opposing defenses were concerned about the QB Hogan and not looking his way at all. He won't have that luxury this year, we'll find out if he is for real the 2016 season. I like Stanford, their coach, and program but I'm not convinced they are contenders for a NC.

I think most of us would be able to handle a loss to either UGA or A&M.

...just beat UF and UA please.

You got those paper tiger Sooners at #4?

Already explained this. The weakness of the Big 12 is the only reason they are that high. If they were in the Pac 12 for example, I'm sure they would have 2 or more losses and I wouldn't have then as a playoff contender. But the Big 12 is so weak they'll find a way to go undefeated or have only 1 loss once again.

I agree.

I've said it several times in several threads. The road to ATL this year goes through Georgia. They are the team that can keep us out. I don't care if they have a completely new coaching staff, there is a lot of talent on that team. Do I think we can do it...yes. Is it going to be easy...no. Their house, revenge on their mind, and knowing if we win we're first in the East, Georgia is going to fight and fight hard. It will be a battle,

Honestly I have no fear of Georgia. They have a soft team imo. I wouldn't be surprised if we blow them out in Athens.

i think the UGA game could be a kind of trap game, depending on the result of the FL game.

we win that game, feel pretty good about ourselves, and boom, off to Athens where UGA is waiting to knock us off the top of the hill we are on....i definitely think the UGA game is going to be tough.

I don't think this team is the type of be caught by trap games.

here's the only thing i'd say to that....if we do beat FL, i think the one thing we've not seen a TN team do under CBJ is handle success.

and if we beat FL, having already beaten VT...probably headed to ATH as a favorite, top 10/12 ranking.....we're feeling pretty good about ourselves, the media will be most certainly be talking up UT/UGA....

it could be a let down / trap game.....just sayin'....we've not seen one of his teams have to handle success like that....so i'm interested in finding out.

What do you call closing the regular season on a 5 game winning streak then blowing out your bowl opponent by 39 points?

I think this team handles success well. Its handling failure that scares me. After the Florida loss they totally flopped against Arkansas.

I think as long as we win they'll continue to play well. I'm afraid of what happens of we lose one.

great finish to last season. no argument.

but we weren't relevant to anything after the ARK game.

when i talk about handling success....i'm talking about real success....be undefeated, top 10, headed on back to back road trips to start conf play.

they haven't had to do that. they haven't had success like that, that late in a season. we beat FL, and we're instantly relevant. can they handle that? that's what i'm talking about. last season, that was more about how you handle adversity. which they did, quite well as you pointed out with how they finished the season after a very rocky start.

This is a confident team. They are already talking about going to Tampa and winning a national title. I don't think starting 4-0 will shock them and they'll let success go to their heads.

This isn't a situation like Florida last year when no one expected them to do anything. Then they start off 6-0 and ranked in the top 10. Then the wheels come off. That was an example of a team not being able to handle success that they weren't prepared for.

I think our guys are prepared to handle success. That's what they expect.

According to Bleacher Report

ESPN citing bleacher report... Maybe that's why they are losing all their big names, that's pathetic

ok, that's fine, i'm just saying, it's an unknown...that they haven't had to do it, so i'm not sure how they will handle it.

I would like for you to elaborate on "soft team". I'm not sure I understand what that means and would like to hear it from your perspective.

"paper tiger Sooners"....
bold talk following an OU sweep of the recent home/home. Actually, I think we'll be better this year and we have a more favorable conference schedule but making the final 4 is at best a crap shoot.

Im hoping we meet in the playoffs. This isn't the same Tennessee team as last year.

You don't recruit well enough for me to fear you. Yall beat a young team that wasn't ready in 2015. On pure athleticism we were running yall outta the building in September. We just couldn't close the deal.

And before you think I hate OU. I was on your bandwagon last year. I had yall as the second best behind Bama. They you let me down against Clemson. That's when I realised what you did in Neyland was smoke and mirrors.

Please don't ask him. I mean, I know you are an opposing fan and all, and may find humor in torturing us, but this is going to far.

Please just retract the question. Say uh huh. Say your right. Anything, but don't subject the rest of us to his response.

Thanks in advance,

BB

Always fits YOUR agenda. You can't accept defeat or the fact that maybe you were wrong, ever, can you?

So you were wrong in your assessment? (Rhetorical question) You should really use this as a learning tool to at least temper your certainty is other areas as well.

Lol. Sorry, I didn't mean to get something started. I retract the question and will in no way read a response, if there is one. As a matter of fact, I agree with the poster. We're soft as newborn kittens. :birgits_giggle:

Don't worry, when D4H is wrong about something he goes into hiding for a while.

Everyone seems to be chalking the Georgia game up as a win, but the sports media still seems to be pretty high on them. We play at their house, they will have revenge on their mind, and still have a great ground game. This game is 50/50 in my book.

Agree.... TAM 55/45; Georgia 50/50; Bama 45/55; Florida 40/60 IMO.
