Vols Football Posts Highest APR in Butch Jones Era | RTI

"The Vols football team had an APR score of 956. That total is 11 points higher than a year ago, 24 points higher than two years ago, and 32 points better than the total three years ago."

It's awesome seeing CBJ help our players be more than just players. Most will never see the NFL and their education is important.

Let us hope that these new smarter players find the end zone more often. Plus when Alabama comes to town with their band of drooling morons we can look down our corn cob pipe at them and speak in their language..."Duuuuh, derp derp derp".

I believe the message here is improvement, not how high it is.

It's not about bragging. It's about improvement. The improvement of our football team both in the classroom and on the field since CBJ got here is something to be proud of. We all know we aren't where we want to be yet. But so does CBJ, and he's doing a fine job of getting us back to the top.

Exactly, especially considering just a couple years ago we were on the verge of penalties which could have included a post-season ban and/or practice reductions.

Right on. Plus what isn't apparent in these numbers is the relative instability (read: dumpster fire) on UTs roster vs other programs following the Kiffin/Dooley years. Think of all the players that have left UT without graduating over the past few years... I'll wager Butch has us up above Florida/Bama in the next year or two.

The message is indeed improvement. And it's a great message....the coaches, players, Dr Scoggin and the others at the Thornton are to be commended on a great job.

However, I think Walken's post likely addressed the post just before his that talked about us being able to "look down our noses" when Alabama comes to fall this year. Gonna be kinda tough to do that with any credibility since they're ranked 3rd in the conference while still sit at #11.

All involved should feel good about the accomplishment. But like Walken said, very little to no room for bragging.

Remember that several schools ranked above UT on this list offer a "major" that is an absolute joke. UT quit this years ago, UF and GA are others that don't offer the bowling major

I could care less if they finish tops in APR. Nobody is asking them to be Josh Dobbs. In the end it doesn't matter if you make straight As or straight Ds. A degree is a degree and as long as they are going to class and passing all of their classes then that's something we should all be proud of. I know I am. It's amazing that we were on the verge of not being able to play in the postseason because of grades and now we are sitting pretty comfortably. Jones had a great plan and executed it.

There will always be majors offered at every university that are easier than others.
