Just because it's VolNation doesn't mean every Vol is an All-American/future pro-bowler and every rival is a scrub.

Someone seems to have a very hard time with the concept. It's ok to not be a total homer sometimes.

Check my last post. I'm no homer. I give credit where it's due. Jarrad Davis is the best pro prospect at LB for next years draft IMO. Way better than JRM who I love but has a very low ceiling in the pros. I thought Jonathan Bullard was the best DT in the SEC last year.

So this is not about me being a homer. I'm just not a fan of corners with 4.6 speed.

Haven't seen anything about this, so SIAP. I saw where Tate Martell tweeted a group of schools that he'd like to see/receive an offer from, and TN was on the list. Seems a little weird we haven't offered the top DT for 2017 considering there's mutual interest. Maybe thought he was too solid to sway from TAMU? Anybody got some insight?

I wouldn't waste my time with little short guys at QB. Guys like Russell Wilson are one in a million.

I like our staff sticking with recruiting 6'2" or taller QBs.

Richard Sherman agrees

No. Giving up big plays on 4th and long is much worse for your chances than trying to milk the clock and play conservative on offense. Stop with this false equivalence. Defense blew those games. Not Dobbs. Not conservatism on offense.

Only problem with that premise was milk the clock. Make ONE first down, you win. It really isn't that hard, they wet the bed. Question is, is it Jones or Debord?

As for Dobbs, it would help him if there was a QB coach.

Richard Sherman agrees

Richard Sherman is 6'3" and plays in a cover 3 zone scheme alongside a future HOFer at free safety (Earl Thomas) helping him over the top so he doesn't get beat.

If you're telling me that Tabor will grow 3 inches, play in a cover 3 zone scheme, and have a future HOFer playing free safety over the top to help him....then maybe he won't be a bust.

Otherwise I'm pretty confident a 6'0" 190 lbs corner that runs 4.6 won't succeed in the pros.

Joe Haden ran a 4.57 at 5'11'' and has done pretty well for himself in the NFL.

If a kid's a great football player, teams will overlook less than ideal measurables.

Out of respect for others on the board, I'm not gonna quote you. But if only we could find a corner or two that fit that description in the NFL. Well, I guess here's a couple that many argue are two of the best young corners in the game...

It's ok man, you're just not a scout. Embrace it. It's not so bad. You can still watch a lot of football. But there's 2 top 10 corners in the game that run 4.6, and are 6' or shorter.

Yes. There are first round busts every year. I'm simply letting you know Jalen Tabor will be one.

I like Quincy Wilson better as a pro prospect. He'll be a solid NFL starter.
I don't agree.I actually thought Tabor was better than Vh111.He is much more physical.

I'm surprised you put so much stock into the 40 times at the opening after they clocked Dobbs at a 4.94

Have you seen what Dobbs looked like when he arrived on campus? Compare that to now? He's one of those kids who transforms in college after getting 4 years of development in a proper strength and conditioning program.

Butch Jones has said Dobbs has gotten faster and improved his arm strength since coming on campus. A quick look at his freshmen film should easily confirm this.

Tabor on the other hand looks very much like he did as a freshmen. And his on-field play hasn't shown improved speed or athleticism over the years. Something Josh has improved on each year.

So you think that the 40 times at the opening are accurate AND that Dobbs improved his 40 time by half a second since he got on campus? (you have said you expect him to run a 4.45-4.5)

C'mon man.

He's like 17 years old...you ever change your mind about something? Eight months ago he may have been certain he wanted to go to A&M. But things change, and he's fully entitled to be careful in this process. I understand the problem people have with kids doing this, and maybe we need to start calling these commitments "tentative commitments" when they're this far out. But when you're making a decision that will ultimately influence the rest of your adult life, at the age of 17 or 18, you deserve to make absolutely certain you made the right call. How's he gonna know if he never even goes anywhere else? I'd love for Coach Jones to give the kid an offer. That's the game.

Absolutely agree a kid should be sure. My point is just don't commit, especially early in the process unless you're sure. If you decide you have made a mistake then decommit and reevaluate. Committed but looking at other options isn't "committed" at all.

So you know he squats, deadlifts, etc the same exact weight he was using in HS? All of which have carry over to explosiveness and speed?

Naw dawg, the high school star rating system projects talent to infinity and beyond. The combine is just for NFL Network ratings.

Hence my assertion that the problem may lie with the lexicon surrounding recruiting, not the individual recruits' character.

For real. It's almost like some of our fans forgot that Derek Dufus was our coach for two years. Anybody could have beat him. Just ask Joker Phillips. Obviously we're scared of Georgia so maybe we all should start a petition to remove them from our schedule. That way we don't have to play them.

Two years?
