Wow..why is the UT journalism school publishing a column that rips the SEC and praises Harbaugh?
NCAA bans satellite camps because SEC fears Harbaugh
It's true.

Another example of the NCAA doing the opposite of keeping the best interest of the student athlete in mind
Satellite camps allow kids to showcase their skills for a much larger variety of schools that they normally wouldn't be able to do so due to financial circumstances. Outlawing these camps will limit a large majority of kids from being able to attend and that's a
shame.
NCAA again shows it's against anything that might help the kids better themselves
It takes $ to do that and many Of these kids can't afford that. That's the basis of my opinion here

So you think that if these satellite camps were held that it wouldn't cost money to attend? Never mind the fact that whoever hosts them gets a huge recruiting advantage. Not too mention kids traveling to the camps that are instate recruits that now suddenly have to pay for a plane ticket to stay in good terms with w/e team is hosting the camp. Right it would cost less. . .

they wouldnt be a blimp on the SECs radar.
What some seem to not realize is that these camps are not to "find/discover" new talent.....they are a PR move.......if a kid is good the schools ALREADY know about him and there are systems in place to get that kid on campus......removing satellite camps are in no way "hurting" the kids that have a chance at a scholly from a school......

The problem on forums like VN is that the concerns of the Power 5 schools and their pursuit of the top 350 players or so is all that we think about but that is a very small percentage of the players who attend camps and of the players seeking scholarships (many players attend these camps just for the purpose of becoming better high school football players) ...Banning these camps could indeed prevent a player who wishes to play at a MAC school from being exposed to a coach that might be interested. These satellite camps are not just for the elite programs and the elite players but these restrictions do impact them just as much or more. The camps are for everybody and taking them away will have more of an impact on those players who aren't on the radar for the major programs from getting scholarship offers from smaller schools.
Well its started already. The mentally ill liberals at Disney ESPN via Mike and Mike are decrying this new rule change as unfair to disadvantaged
players, and claim this will prevent "thousands and thousands of kids from obtaining college scholarships."
M&M came out pretty hard on this ruling, ESPN is getting harder and harder to swallow by the day.

Dead wrong......the HS coaches are sending film, free of charge, to any school that a kid is interested in going to.....you are saying that a college coach can not evaluate a player off of their film......if they are interested in said player, they will go see him or get him on campus.......don't drink the Kool-Aide of this "preventing" any kids from the exposure they need to get recruited......the NCAA saw right through it.......
that offer is EARNED months before......the day of the camp might be the day tat it becomes official......once again, ignorance.....
