Alexis Johnson arrested (merged/updated 4/21)

The only ones I've ever heard about were all athletes. I wasn't sure if others occurred and didn't get press, or there aren't any. Maybe those are the ones being "covered up".

The ones covered up the most are cases against law enforcement. Which numerous studies have quantified domestic violence in police famileis as three times more likely than in non law enforcemenrt families.

Not bashing here, that's the numbers. It's somewhat unfair in my opinion to crucify an 18 year old kid for an allegation while willfully ignoring thst those in charge of serving and protecting the community are the most egregious offenders.

: In a nationwide survey of 123 police departments, 45% had no specific policy for dealing with officer-involved domestic violence.

: In that same survey, the most common discipline imposed for a sustained allegation of domestic violence was counseling. Only 19% of departments indicated that officers would be terminated after a second sustained allegation of domestic violence.

: In San Diego, a national model in domestic violence prosecution, the City Attorney typically prosecutes 92% of referred domestic violence cases, but only 42% of cases where the batterer is a cop.

: And there is another American profession that has a significantly more alarming problem with domestic abuse. I'd urge everyone who believes in zero tolerance for NFL employees caught beating their wives or girlfriends to direct as much attention—or ideally, even more attention—at police officers who assault their partners. Several studies have found that the romantic partners of police officers suffer domestic abuse at rates significantly higher than the general population. And while all partner abuse is unacceptable, it is especially problematic when domestic abusers are literally the people that battered and abused women are supposed to call for help. - source - The Atlantic

Now, I'd like to see a paper write an article on this.

Sorry if I have missed something here, but wondering if there have been any updates on his status with the team? Looked through the football forum and couldn't find anything. :hi:

Has a hearing coming up, not sure if the accuser is still where she does not want to press charges or not.

Wes Rucker keeps hearing he will be cleared at some point.

One part of me feels like there's no way he'll be let back on the team with this lawsuit. But another part of me feels like there's a statement to be made by letting him back on the team, if he serves his time and takes his punishment. Being honest, there are way worse things than what he did.

Maybe so but if a girl comes to your apartment then says she wants to leave, then let her leave.

For the short amount of time he had been here, he could not have known ANY girl on or around campus well enough to have her in his apartment. Another player thinking with the wrong head again.

Hope he gets clear. Until then, I will silently sit here wishing we had landed Derrick Brown or Landon Dickerson instead. And hope that the ones yet to arrive obtain wise guidance in dealing with estrogen based life forms.

Never been in a relationship?

I know right? If I had a dollar every time some chick got huffy and wanted to say a few last words and hit the door; while I was there being all rational and saying "wait, you're crazy, let's talk about it."

I'd have 3 dollars.

Per the report they knew each other

The key to this to me is what was done to "keep her from leaving"

That part means a lot IMO

"According to arrest records, a female victim told police she was at Johnson’s apartment around 3 a.m. on February 14. She said she had dated and had sexual encounters with him in the past.

The victim said she and Johnson were “play fighting” and things escalated and he tried to choke her, saying she almost passed out. She also said Johnson tried to touch and kiss her, despite her repeated statements that she did not want to have sex.

Eventually, according to the report, the victim says Johnson blocked the bedroom door, keeping her from exiting and threatening physical violence."

Native, the above was posted early in the thread. I quote them in response to your post below. Sounds like a hooker that wanted to get paid and he didn't have the $$.

Well she did join that lawsuit ya know. It's like my daddy used to say:

"Son, you're gonna pay for it either way. The cost of a few dinner dates, movies, flowers....about $200. The cost of a hooker....about $200....you do the math son!"

Ok, he really didn't say that, but I guess it sort of makes sense haha!
