24-8 in the first round.

I picked Hawaii and Northern Iowa and still lost 5 yesterday.

This tournament is all over the place.

It's a direct reflection of this season...no stand out teams that have just dominated the entire season. I will not be surprised to see some high seeds make it to the elite 8 and maybe even 1 in the final four. Just the way this season has gone. It's wide open for a very good mid-major to do something very special, IMO.

I picked Hawaii, Northern Iowa, Little Rock, and SF Austin..

But picked Michigan State to win it all.

My bracket is garbage. I went low seed over high seed almost across the board and there have been a ridiculous number of upsets this year. Also had MSU winning it all.

Haven't watched a second of ball this year, so someone splain to me please,

How does KY suck this year after Cal seemingly gets 7/10 top players every year. And I know they all go pro after a year. What's up?

They're playing better now,

But

Cal isn't a great coach imo

There is no substitute for experience. As talented as they are, the one and dones hurt their experience and that does matter in the tournament. I do predict that they will make the Elite 8.

Worse this year as well. MSU killed it dead. I had them in the final with Kansas winning. I hit a few upsets right, but got beat up yesterday.

Just looked at our defensive stats from last year. It is inexcusable the poor job our defensive coordinator did with this group.

Gave up 20 points a game
Gave up 362 yards a game
20 first downs a game
Only 1.6 turnovers a game
56% red zone touchdown given up

We had two senior safeties. Two studs at DB. Studs at LB. a very good DL. Unreal the garbage job the coaches did.

What really pissed me off was the three consecutive drives Vandy unleashed on us along with the way a dysfunctional South Carolina team drove on us. Forget at the way Grier picked us apart in a 8 minute span and our inability to get off the field in the 4th quarter against Oklahoma.

I am so happy to have Shoop. This guy alone is good for an additional two wins.

I really think the defense should be top 10 nationally in 2016.

Shoop had Vandy in the top 25 all three years that he was there and Penn State at #2 in 2014 and #14 in 2015. No comparison between the talent levels that he had in Nashville or even Happy Valley and what he'll have in Knoxville.

The guy is an elite DC, and we will probably only hang onto him for one year. But it will be enough to give UT a huge boost this season and parlay that success into hiring another home run DC.

Shoop is almost definitely an upgrade. There were some breakdowns that can't be laid at the DC's feet, but overall, I agree with you. With the talent and experience we had, the defense should have been better.

What makes matters worse is that we were a running team that also won time of possession. Embarrassing is what I call that performance.
