2016 Election Thread Part Deux

Sometimes you just give people what they want.

The people want Obama 2.0 in the form of Trump. Might as well sit back and watch the bonfire the political scene has become.

I understand that. And, I can appreciate it as well

I don't consider Trump or Cruz to be Obama 2.0.

Both have their flaws but I feel their positives out weigh their negatives.

Trump's positive is potentially blowing up GOP establishment. Cruz will ensure our country's sleaze reserves are overflowing.

Trump = 30 second soundbites with zero substance. Flashy, yet people follow in lockstep without ever asking serious questions about anything he's talking about. "Great deals, we're going to win, build a wall, make America great again, rinse, repeat."

Obama = Hope, change, 30 second soundbites, flashy, yet people follow in lockstep without ever asking serious questions about anything he's talking about.

Cruz = Someone who won't play ball or compromise at all, even with his own party.

Obama = Someone who won't play ball or compromise.

Yes, Cruz/Trump = Obama 2.0

Your scenario doesn't change with a Kasich or a Romney as the nominee.

Better the RINO who will put up a fight than the RINO who will look for a place to hide when the going gets tough.

Seen the head to head poll numbers with Kasich? He beats her soundly

As supposed to the double digit lead she has on Trump? Trump will not get any of the swing vote. They are not disenfranchised republicans running to slap the GOP.

Trump sure as hell will not be anything like McCain or Romney.

Trump is going to rain down PURE HELL FIRE onto Bill and Hillary on the campaign trail.

So the swing vote will only pay attention to news stories that they already know about Cankles and will ignore whatever dirt she comes up with on him?

A fact that will be worth little when they start labelling him as a racist, homophobic misogynist and he fails to respond aggressively to it.

See McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012 for earlier examples.

Trump passes obstacle to nomination
And according to the rules of the Republican convention, a candidate must "demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates from each of eight (8) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination." No eight states, no nomination.

So with fewer than 20 states remaining, Kasich has to win at least seven to be viable when to this point the has managed only his home state?

That is the only chance he has. If he follows the advice of a Steve Schmidt or a Carl Rove, then he will lose big.

If he goes after her with both barrels firing, then he has a chance.

If they introduce the "war on women" theme again, then look for Trump to introduce America to Bill's time on Pedophile Island with Mr. Epstein.

GOP superlawyer on contested convention rule: "In fact, that's not a rule" - POLITICO

“In fact, that's not a rule,” former RNC lawyer Ben Ginsberg — the party's preeminent election law expert — told MSNBC early Wednesday morning. “That's part of what's called the temporary rules. Each convention has to pass for itself the number of states that put a candidate's name in nomination.”

In 2012, revisions to Rule 40 raised the required number of states from five to eight, but no number is in effect for the Cleveland convention, according to Ginsberg. “The 2016 convention and its rules committee has to make that decision,” he said. “So there is no eight-state rule in effect right now for the next convention.”

If you think that's why they lost then you are nuts. McCain lost because he was going against, what was viewed at the time, as a once in a life time candidate. He won the American Idol version of an election. Oh and he named a moron his running mate. That many of the same ididots in the GOP got excited about. Bet it's the same people who support Trump. They won't admit that now.

Romney lost before the election even started. The fact is Obama, despite his numerous faults, is an amazing campaigner and vote organizer. His machine was unstoppable. On top of that, not that I care, a Mormon doesn't electrify the evangelical base.

Romney was completely out-of-touch with the average voter. He was a pretty good candidate in theory but a horrific campaigner.

If there wasn't this social separation in the country, Trump wouldn't have a chance. I believe that fully.

I can agree with that. Just think; Obama's actions would have pushed Trump into the White House - karma.

You also have to keep in mind it's an electoral college game. There are very few states that matter.
