UT had 2 forcible sex crimes last year. 1 was cleared. By comparison, MTSU had 7 and Chattanooga 6.

But but but the culture....
I wonder if Butch and the staff have agreements with "borderline" kids that they take early in the process who perhaps look good on tape/at Tennessee's camps but have a few question marks. Maybe they'll take their commitments early, but they need to ball out their senior years and do X number of camps and improve certain aspects of their game in order to retain their commitment status and scholarship offers.
It's kind of a win-win situation if the kids agree to it. Getting an early (commitable) offer from Tennessee helps them get other offers if it doesn't work out, and the staff can take commitments from guys with high upsides who may or may not live up to their expectations as seniors, making it easier for them to potentially cut ties down the road. It's also a bit of an insurance policy in case they strike out with other targets.

I said one of...lol. I don't know if TN will become a premiere BB school or not, but I think there is a chance if Barnes keeps on his trajectory and we get some decent recruits. I like Rick Barnes as a coach.
I get you but I cannot see a world where Vandy "should be" a basketball powerhouse and Tennessee "could be."
Completely different for basketball than football.
Vanderbilt fans actually support the BB program. Like it or not the Vandy gym (with it's weird set-up) is a plus. It's a hell of a home court advantage. Vandy (I believe) is the second highest paying BB coaching position in the SEC.
While Nashville is not a big enough draw for recruits to come here to play football, in basketball it definitely is.
the "should be" vs "could be" is not at all a far fetched idea. As a TN fan, I would love to dominate Vandy in every area, but it probably will not happen. They have a better baseball program than UT does and they should be a premiere basketball program too, they have a lot going for them in that aspect. If they actually hire a good coach, they will be a Top Tier SEC program.
Now excuse me while I go puke.
I hate Vandy
So they have a weird court setup and pay their long time coach well. That's all they need to have for you to say they should be a powerhouse? Is there anything else they have??
I hate you. :the_finger:
Yep. On spring break this week. Practice resumes A week from today I think. :hi:I am not able to initiate a thread which is why I am asking this question here.
I've been out of pocket for a few days so can someone please tell me what is going on in practice. Are they on spring break? Just noticed I could not find any updates.
I'm sure I am the only one who does not know the answer but I would appreciate info on this please. tks
Not to be argumentative but I really do think it is that simple. We can't sell immediate playing time for the most part. We have talent and everyone knows it. If we lay an egg in two of the big three, Bama, GA, and Florida, other coaches will and can make the case that we squander talent.
Lol easy man, i wasnt attacking you. Comparing Georgia to vandy isnt helping your argument any. Stallings hasn't always been their coach and they've never been a basketball powerhouse. Compared to the rest of their programs (baseball being the exception) , the basketball program has been solid. A great coach (Corbin) can make a program. So, if they hired a great coach they could be a powerhouse, just like most other programs could under the same scenario. Im just saying I don't see what they offer that says they "should" be a powerhouse.Come on man. Seriously, I hate Vandy as much as anyone, but I am also a lover of sports. I hate Georgia too, but I would be stupid to not expect them to actually be better than what they have shown over the last 30 years. Whether you choose to agree with me or not is no big deal, but don't go getting all condescending with me about it.
I understand that a lot of people don't follow other teams sports and only follow their team, but don't try to make your arguments based off of anything more than, they are Vandy. Read....look at the talent they bring in...look at what the only hold back (coach) for them has been, then come back and make an argument. I'm not going to go back and forth with you, when it's obvious you don't know anything about Vandy Basketball.
They are good. They should be better.
