Twitter folks go to SportsCenter Twitter page and vote for greatest QB of this generation. Peyton trails Brady 36% to 34% Farve has 30%

I know I'm probably in the minority on this but I have never liked the idea of building statues for athletes and coaches. I hope we don't rush out to build a statue of Peyton. I don't like the Neyland statue or the Pat Summitt statues either.

Just never been big on statues. Not sure why. I know most don't share my opinion.

In contrast, I'm hoping we replace the torch-bearer with a 50 ft statue of manning throwing a flaming football.

I don't know why people are surprised Clemson is hot recruiting wise. They were a few big plays from being Champions. They are pitching it and we've got a PR mess going on besides not taking the next step with finishing good teams off. If we do what we're supposed to do this year it'll all straighten itself out. Shoop will be the difference like Venables is for Dabo. We've also got to feature our best players at WR and stop with the anybody can run any route nonsense.

This is pretty much my feeling as well. Things will straighten out once recruits see the product we put on the field.

When asked if the scandal at UT is having an effect on recruiting, a local highly rated recruit told my son "no one believes that crap. Theres no way coach Jones would ever say something like that to a player. He loves his team and treats all of them like they're his sons. Players want to pick UT but they want to see them win big games this year."

Boom!!! I'm guessing that came from Gray or Stevens.

Ok ziti..this is wierd :) Please tell me you don't think the Lincoln memorial is weird. It us one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

Saw it when I was a kid. I guess it was kinda cool. I remember seeing where Lincoln was shot and where he died. That stuck with me more.

Statues are just not my thing. I enjoy history and learning about history but stuff like the Washington monument, statues, museums in general, famous artwork, etc don't appeal to me for whatever reason.

That is sad...no offense meant. I feel the same way about people who don't appreciate the natural wonders of the world, or don't like to read.

I feel like my childhood officially closed today.

Because every time I watched Peyton play football I was taken back to the 9 year old boy that I was when he took over for TN @UCLA in 1994.

I couldn't have been any more blessed then for God to have given me Peyton Manning as my lifelong hero.

Thanks Peyton.

Very good post

I am a little older than you but today almost made me feel like my youth, or glory days, are well past me.

I have lost a few friends and family that I enjoyed manning games with over the course of the last 22 years and those memories all came pouring out today

Amazing how much that man has captivated the very core of our everyday lives

What a day
What a career
