I don't really get this position. What exactly are they repudiating about the GOP by voting for Trump? People say vague things like he's an outsider, but I see few ideological differences between him and the rest of the GOP.
A big F-U to the mainstream GOP would have been massive support for Rand up front.
I could have gotten behind a Rand campaign even though I don't agree entirely with his stances.

Trump's policies aren't the reason people are flocking to him. It's his machismo.
Rand Paul doesn't have that. He's far toophilosophical and reservedintelligent for this angry base.
Fixed for what I consider the reason. Rand doesn't have bad ideals, but nobody wants to hear about budgets when ISIS is in the news 24/7. Yeah, it's a big problem, but with the average voter having the attention span of a common housefly traveling from one pile of **** to the next, his ideals don;t resonate.
I don't think we can approach this cycle the way we typically would. It's a different dynamic altogether. This election is no longer about ideology and policy details (at least not primarily), it's about tearing down our ineffective and corrupt political duopoly. The same rules and reasoning do not apply.
Maybe he needs to dumb it down and throw out buzzwords and fake tough talk like Cruz. People want to hear simple phrases like "audit the Fed" or "abolish the IRS", not an explanation of the inner workings of each organization and why they're bad.

Agree. I posted some info last night about how much money each candidate has raised and from where/who.
Trump is at the absolute bottom and has taken less money from Wall St (the boogyman) than any other candidate including Bernie Sanders.
He's done something (run successful businesses) yet he comes across as an regular guy more than someone who's telling you what's best for you.
Lot's of dynamics at play here - right person at the right time.
The vibe is he's going to cut through the BS and get shizz done. May just be a vibe but it's working.
updated delegate count, you won't see this on TV today
Trump-316
Cruz-226
Rubio-106
Kasich-25
Carson-8
This thing is far from over
Certainly worked against Ron Paul - trying to explain the monetary system at a debate simply doesn't work.
Rand's best moments were when he started phrases with "I reall don't think we ought to be..." (spying, invading, giving, regulating, etc).
True. However the going logic is that while Trump will likely do well in the upcoming states, Cruz won't and Rubio will. (Kasich may also but too little too late).
As a result, Trump's lead will be bigger and Cruz/Rubio tighten ensuring neither will drop out while each falls farther behind Trump.
Excellent points. I'm interested to see how this escalation of GOP attacks on Trump is going to play out. My gut tells me it's going to backfire. I believe the perception among many will be they are attacking what they cannot control. It will serve to entrench him as the outsider the electorate clearly desires.
