Over, Under, or on Par performances

Ok

You think the kid is hurt but not hurt enough to effect his play but using it as as excuse

Fair enough as that could easily be true

I think it's dangerous for a coach to play doctor and call out a kids effort when there is a legit injury but the severity of such is at question

He can have a sore knee effecting his play in addition to not competing for other reasons.

I'm sure that there are medical professionals evaluating Hubbs and I don't believe that Barnes is playing doctor. Hubbs elected to sit out (unless Barnes is doing him a favor by allowing a sore knee to be a smoke screen when Barnes sat his butt on the bench). Get that Barnes "is being dangerous" bull**** out of here. Look at last night's quote again. Barnes said that he can't count on Hubbs contributing. You're spinning that into Barnes is putting the kid into a dangerous situation.

Agreed with most of what you say here

Questioning a kids injury tolerance in public is a dangerous area. Behind closed doors another thing

Doesn't really matter the reason. the fact: We've played the last 2 games without our #1 and #2 scorer.

If it continues, most likely result: No more wins this season.

Barnes is correct... he doesn't know. Pain isn't something that doctors can accurately measure. If Hubbs says he's hurting, then everybody needs to give him the benefit of doubt. Barnes is closer to the situation and might have strong beliefs whether Hubbs is being truthful or sandbagging, but it's up to the player to decide if he can go.

Here's my main beef. Hubbs was well enough to play the 1st half against So Car when he stunk it up. Only until Barnes sat him in the 2nd half did the knee become a question. Did he tweak it in the 1st half? Was he icing like a lot of players ice areas after a game? Honestly, I think his pride was hurt and he used the knee as an excuse to sit out the Ark game. We'll never know. The trainers know more than us and he was cleared. If his knee is truly injured, it's probably a matter of pain tolerance.

I think it's safe to say that Hubbs has pretty much always been soft. Hopson constantly took on criticism for being soft. Both were 5 star recruits. However, Hopson put the team on his shoulders a number of times. I can't recall Hubbs ever doing that.

Tue night is shaping up to be an embarrassing loss. We can hope Vandy is still in the clouds from their "historic" win and storming of the court.

I'll be satisfied if we keep it within 20. We match up terribly with Vandy.

Yep, and winning 2 of 3 last year surprised me. That showed how valuable J-Rich really was to our team. They had talent everywhere, it was just young. Now they're a year older. Stallings may save his job by getting to the NCAA's. However, they've lost way too many games with that kind of talent IMO. I wish we could've played them at their place first. Along with the TCU and Mizzou games, the one at home against Vandy we didn't even show up for most of the game.

If they're going to do something, they better do it this year. Jones is gone after this year, Henderson is a Sr (a role player, but another 7 footer they can plug in for a few minutes) and Baldwin is probably gone after next year along with Kornet. They'll be good next year, but not as talented.

That kind of performance should be an easy under par, but for this team, it's about what's expected, so par.

Par. Roster is a wreck. One transferred. One has a broken foot. One has a sore knee and is sitting out. One has the flu or some similar illness. Four freshmen played a lot of minutes. The two sophomores are basket cases. Almost better than par... especially if the game was 12 minutes long instead of 40.

@wesrucker247: Barnes: KP was tearing up in the locker room after the game. I'm not sure people understand how hard this (injury) has been for him.

Good stuff to hear for sure

Barnes said that he told Punter not to come back too soon and risk damaging his chances to play in the NBA or other professional ball. Barnes is a big fan of all of the seniors and the freshman. Those sophomores and the junior though... smdh.

He's tugging at our hearts

@KPJunior_: All the long practices, all the days getting yelled at, all the responsibility, all the running, all them early mornings.
Was All Worth It.

Punter wants to still play on a fractured foot even with risk of hurting his pro career and Hubbs has sat out two games with a "bruised" knee. I wish Punter had another year of eligibility. Hubbs sitting himself out two games in a row says it all about his toughness. Just as I said after Sat's game, he's beyond soft. It would be funny if it weren't so damn pathetic.

No matter what, you still have to let the player decide if they can go. It's pretty obvious that Barnes does think he's sitting out for other reason(a), but he's been pretty careful with exactly how he's phrasing it. He'll throw out a veiled reference that Hubbs seems to be faking it, but then his next several comments will casually acknowledge that Hubbs is in fact injured. It's always possible that what appears to have been a minor injury actually has aggravated a more serious physical issue. Nobody knew it at the time, but Chris Lofton was playing with cancer.

This right here is a great example as to why Hubbs is so frustrating, his mind set and effort just isn't there and it's infuriating for coaches.

Didn't Thunder teach us a lesson that VN is a pitiful doctor with the baulkman thread?

Perhaps we should retire from posting when players can play and when they can't

Give it a rest. You had no idea what you were talking about when you started that thread.

I had just heard Barnes say that his arm was dislocated and had seen him rolling around apparently in excruciating pain. Barnes said after the LSU game that Baulkman deserved an Oscar for his performance. And actually, he should be done for the season. If Punter didn't have a stress fracture and Hubbs wasn't doing whatever he's doing and Mostella hadn't told off Barnes during a game, Baulkman probably would be done for the season.
