Ross Perot ring a bell?

Yep, and I really don't care at this point.

If the GOP is stupid enough to put up a candidate that over half the party won't support or get behind and one that's as divisive as Trump, they get what's coming to them.

I can say that Oklahoma will go red regardless of my vote. But as I've stated before, it gets a third party a little more exposure. I won't vote for Hillary, Sander and I certainly won't vote for Trump. I'd settle for Kasich or Rubio. Cruz I'm on the fence about, but leaning towards no because he's a raging douchebag. But he has one thing going for him. He isn't Trump.

So that leaves me extremely limited options of writing in Foghorn Leghorn or picking the Libertarian candidate if Trump is the nominee.

I think we are thinking the same way. I'm not even on the fence about Cruz however, I think he's douche and always has been and always will be.

If my choice is between Hillary and Trump I won't even vote because the idiots have over run the asylum.

Foghorn Leghorn....that opens up another layer of potential VP picks Trump could choose if he gets the nod. Yosemite Sam? Wile E. Coyote?

Most conservatives who vote Republican are very concerned with illegal immigration and the loss of jobs due to trade bills such as NAFTA and TPP. Trump gives them some hope that he will change things. The Republican establishment, including Rubio will not.

Elect any Repub establishment backed candidate, and we will have Obama's trade and immigration policy with Bush's foreign policy and economic policy. All 4 policies are recipes for disaster.

Not that long ago he had a completely different stance on immigration. And if you're being honest with yourself, his words and actions don't match on jobs going overseas.

Which is why I asked what makes people believe trump will govern as a conservative.

Because, he will actually have a say so in the issue.

What happens to our economy if all those trillions of dollars are brought back to the states? Business cuts are made? Taxes lowered?
More money in the working mans hand?

Just thinking out loud....

his record is just so different from his current position. Maybe he would do all you say above. I don't see much reason to be confident that he would.

I think it's Obama 08 all over again. Emotional and upset people projecting their desires on a very shaky candidate.

There's something wrong with anyone who believes the pyramids were used to store grain.
And he might believe that anyone who doesn't understands how synapses work is dim as well. He is a highly intelligent man. He would make you look like a blithering idiot in a one on one without a doubt.

I'm having a lot of trouble believing American blue-collar workers would trust a guy who built an empire on illegal and foreign labor.

Everything about candidate Trump is finely crafted to appeal to a certain demographic. His record belies his current rhetoric.

Do they have a choice? If the people pick Trump and they go against the will of the people and install Rubio, Trump will tell them to pack sand and go third party. It will be suicide for them to do that because it will hand the seeunt the election. They must get him to pick an establishment VP.

Yeah, that won't convince anyone who is already supporting Trump. I thought it was pretty well done, though.

Haven't watched it but I am troubled when I see people getting their news/views from Oliver or Maher or whatever entertainer source.

Oliver does mostly one-sided hit pieces. He's clever, funny and highlights absurdity. Good stuff but I see people treat it like journalism. It isn't.

You promised to join me in writing in AC if it came to that.

I was just answering a question as to why conservatives were supporting Trump. They have been repeatedly lied to by their party. They absolutely do not trust the Republican establishment.

I generally find Oliver to be an insufferable and moralizing hack, but this one managed to point out the inconsistencies of the man without being overly preachy about the movement he's generating.

They are supporting him because he's saying exactly what they want to hear. And not even questioning the motives one tiny bit. Or even digging in just a tiny bit below the surface.
