That's not true.

He thought she was raped and tried to help. He got beat up for this. That looks bad no matter if the rape occurred or not

I don't think a trial, if it ever progresses to that stage, and even if it completely clears UT, will help us at all. This case is being tried in the media, and the plaintiff's attorneys know it. And at the moment, the media is salivating to find guilt.

I hate being an alarmist, but I think there's actually a chance Butch may not survive this.

He needs to come out ASAP and say, yes I said it, in the heat of the moment before I got all the facts. I realized I was wrong and called back to apologize

Alexis Johnson's attorney tweeted this Thursday: "Alleged victim didn't want to prosecute." She's now a plaintiff in the lawsuit against UT.

This case will likely end in pretrial settlement. The insurance companies will make the call. They don't care about innocence, guilt or reputations-- they care about limiting their financial exposure. The plaintiffs' attorneys are trying this case in the media during the slowest part of the offseason when there's not much to write about. It's a whole lot of nothing, but UT comes off looking very bad.

I believe every part of The article. In fact all of it was stated here by a number of "insiders" except for jones calling Bowles a traitor.

My guess is Bowles only shared the 2nd confrontation with the grand jury out of a shame or trying to protect 56.


We should have settled on this from the beginning. Pretty obvious this is going to be a black eye for a long time if we don't make it go away ASAP

He won't, he has already being found guilty by national media this afternoon. Another quote they are using on ESPN about a statement about he takes over the parenting role. Yea, he won't survive this. I would say Hart and Butch are gone.

One sure fire way to know Butch future will be if Dave Hart supports Butch in presser tomorrow. If he does, they are going to lawyer up and fight it. If he doesn't , they are going to settle and distance themselves from Butch.

He will deny it even if he said it IMO. Only risk of doing that is if Drae Bowles somehow recorded the phone call. But given how careful coaches have to be with the NCAA, it seems insane that Butch would say something that could put his job in jeopardy if there was ANY chance it could be recorded. So him saying it in the first place seems dubious.

Bowles has killed his credibility as a witness. But as LAVol has said, the liability insurers will kick in at some point and push a settlement. UT's plan was to attack the weaker points in the complaint and set up a perimeter on those still in contention. They would then work on the image and make any policy and procedures changes. Bowles has added a wild card no doubt.

Why would they fire Butch? If they settle this goes away regardless. They don't have to fire him. Calling someone a traitor isn't a criminal offense. Does it look bad? Hell yeah it does. But it will be out of the news cycle within weeks with a settlement on the books.

Well there is another version of the story.

I never put much thought into the other version until he lied under oath and now changed his story.

IDT Butch's job is in jeopardy. The absolute last thing we need is a coaching change. The whole program's just going to have to focus on spring ball and the players are going to need to be very careful. I'm sure UT will limit media access to the players and funnel info through trusted channels.

Yes they would if true. Keep him on and it solidifies accusation of University culture concerns. Again, tomorrow's presser will tell us all we need to know.

He signed saying it was true he was assaulted. Previously he had said he was not

Unless I am missing something.
