Just a gut feeling based on the Twitter barrage from Vol Football and some of the coaches.

You are more than welcome.

I've worked in hospital security, and was mostly assigned to at risk psych ward patients. I have stayed with a lot of really ill people. I have a ton of symapathy for them and their families. And I applaud the health care professionals that work with them. It can be very rough to deal with. It is a special calling.

The training weights make it look like more than what it is. Looks like 405. Don't get me wrong though that's still a lot! Just glad he's on our side

I could see a calculated commitment happening soon. The tweets from the staff coming off a weekend where all the kids were talking up the visit has me thinking very positive.

Honeybun Compton

Honeybun Compton

Loved how you signed off with that 😂 So matter-of-fact like. Compton Road sounds pretty gangsta. And I don't think I could ever call an animal Honeybun. What's the matter with you, v?

LOL.

I don't know why you guys act like this is some new position Shoop created. Its just a silly name for a position everyone has. Similar to how some teams use the name "LEO" to describe an OLB that puts his hand on the ground and rushes from the DE position on 3rd down.

The "star" position is just an outside linebacker that stays on the field on everything but obvious passing downs. All it means is when a team runs 3 WRs on the field on first down, we're keeping our base 4-3 look on the field rather than trying to match up with them and running the nickelback on the field. NFL teams have been doing this for decades.

JRM will be the "star" this year. And going forward it'll be whoever we play at weakside linebacker.

This is no magical new position.

Actually it more closely resembles the ROV or rover position.

LEOS are edge setters whether hand on the ground or not.

ROV or STAR is JRM

I don't think his post indicated he felt like shoop created the position.

Bless you and thank you for what you do. Therapists and mental health workers in general, and especially those who provide things like CBT and DBT are some of the biggest unsung heroes in America. Too many think psychiatry and psychology are nothing more than quackery and that folks just use mental disorders to excuse behavior. :salute: :hi:

I wish people understood just how serious mental disorders can be and that Axis I dx's are brain disorders no different than any other illness - they are biological. Although I give more weight to Axis I some Axis II dx's are so embedded that they might as well be Axis I (yes I reject the DSM V as tainted by special interests also giving up the roman numeral to go to 5 wtf?!). But I also know that's my own bias showing through and think the suffering is still there but Axis IIs can often get better with treatment minus a few SMIs.

I'm probably just pissed they took away the Axis distinction as I found it helpful and more importantly, I think the key to destigmatizing mental illness is in educating the public about the fact that Axis I's are biological.

I'm also intrigued that some research indicates that some Axis II disorders show evidence of biological origins.

That said, ALL suffer emotionally and sometimes on a similar level. I hope and pray our country starts to take mental illness seriously but I'm not holding my breath.

Hey Freak,
I tried to give this post a "like", but VN told me that I must have at least one hundred posts before I am allowed to do that. It is happening more frequently. Used to be a rare occurrence. I'm always on mobile...
Could you please look into it?
Thanks!

Here's your LIKE, UTProf! I know it doesn't count officially, but it's the best that I can do currently. :hi:

I think they're evaluating you, Doc. Your wild, progressive Zika virus zombie apocalypse theory has you on a short leash. :scare:

Kongo is gonna be a beast. Can't wait to see what he can do.

As for some commits...if ever there was a time for some strategicly timed commitments from Butch, it's now. Like, 5 minutes ago.

And just call me....Henry Hollywood. :)

One day that post will be viewed as prophesy not heresy...
Once it all happens, I say put Peyton in charge of the societal rebuild :)

I'm really tempering my expectations on Kongbo. Not being an EE really hurts someone who has only played a few years of football. We should all have low expectations at first, imo.

I'm not expecting a whole lot in year one either. I just hope we see some flashes of an elite skill set. Years 2 and 3 (if he doesn't just blow up and go pro) for him could be fun to watch.

I'll temper my expectations but I wouldn't say they're "low". A learning curve is always going to be a necessity for a JUCO player but it's usually strength, conditioning and the speed of the game that are the biggest hurdles. I don't think the first two will be issues.

Yep I am not expecting him to come in and dominate. If he does that's gravy but we really only need him to be a role guy his first year. So I think we will be able to gradually bring him along throughout the season and if he just takes off with it give him more to do.

Got a chance to watch the presser yesterday. I am glad to see our coaches sticking together and I'm thinking this was an attempt to put something out there that they can point to and say "this is how it really is at UT." I know they are battling other schools in recruiting who are using this Title IX lawsuit against us.

Couple of takeaways from the presser. I thought Karen Weekly was impressive. I really like Holly Warlick. It took a lot of guts for her to sit up there and basically fire a shot at all the Lady Vol groaners who hate Dave Hart.

My concern with the presser was that it would just get this story back in the news cycle and that the fake outrage/pc bro/feminazi/sjw media mobs would twist whatever was said in the presser. However, I think my concerns were probably misplaced as this story was gonna be in the news every day this week anyway whether we had the PC or not. Feels like we got to tell a little bit of our side. I will add though that Vol fans will feel better about that presser than the rest of the country.

I know some on here don't care for Basilio (and I think he is going overboard in his criticism of Dave Hart) but I think he is 100% correct in his assertion that this Title IX lawsuit is being helped along by disgruntled former employees. The tone of that presser kinda reinforced that theory IMO.

This suit is all about a bunch of Vandy lawyers and writers putting the rape attention on TN and away from their school. If you have to put a Manning mooning, lil Jon rap video and now add crowder child thing into your suit then your telling the other side you really don't have any clear evidence and it's just a smear campaign for shock value. That is prob why TN is so adamant about fighting back

Maybe on JRM. We will see. We have so many elite athletes on backend that in order to get the best guys on the field he could just as easily keep JRM in the box with Kirkland as full time LBs and have a bigger Saftey play the spot. I'd personally keep JRM as close to line of scrimmage as possible that's where he makes his plays. I could see TK JR, Sapp, McDowell or Berry in that role as well. Shoop has a ton of options to choose from

I thought his highlights looked like someone with a long way to go. Also, a future DT. Didn't look nearly as explosive against JUCO talent as I expected from the hype.

There is an article on ESPN written in the early morning hours that basically made fun of some of the quotes from the coaches. It was pretty classless, IMO.
