2018 TE Judge Culpepper named Syracuse and UT his early leaders.

Both schools have verbally offered. He also has offers from Kentucky, Bowling Green and Cincinnati.

His brother, quarterback Rex Culpepper, signed with the Orange last cycle.

"If my brother likes it up there and has a good experience that could be a big deal," Culpepper said. "I'm trying to find the best place for me so Syracuse might not be the place for me."

He's been to Tennessee and Syracuse.

"The facilities were incredible," Culpepper said of Tennessee. "The coaching staff was one of the coolest staffs I've ever talk to. Their practices were awesome."

Culpepper feels he could play tight end or perhaps defensive line on the next level.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder holds a 4.0 GPA, bench presses 300 pounds and runs a 4.8-second 40-yard dash.

He's also getting interest from North Carolina, Florida, Miami, Clemson and Florida State.

His dad, Brad Culpepper, played for the Gators.

His uncle, Larry Culpepper, invented the college football playoffs.

"Several top prospects will be in Orlando for the first The Opening Regional event of the year.

247Sports will have a big group there as well.

IMG Academy Regional
The blue-chippers from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy will give The Opening staff plenty to think about regarding that early invite.

• The nation’s No. 5 dual-threat quarterback in Baylor commit Kellen Mond.

• Top50 recruit and the country’s No. 9 receiver Jhamon Ausbon is also a Baylor verbal.

• Four-star receiver Emmanuel Greene takes the field with Ohio State at the top of his list while also considering Clemson, Louisville, Miami, TCU, UCLA and West Virginia among others.

• The country’s No. 1 center according to the 247Sports Composite in Cesar Ruiz takes the field. Michigan is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite.

• The No. 14 tight end in the land Tre McKitty who’s looking at Florida, Florida State, Miami and West Virginia.

• Penn State is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for Top247 offensive tackle Robert Hainsey

• Ohio State and Penn State are two of the top contenders for the nation’s No. 1 weak-side defensive end per the 247Sports Composite in Joshua Kaindoh.

• Top247 linebacker Jordan Anthony is one of the country’s best two-way players. Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are in the mix.

• The No. 5 inside linebacker in the country per the 247Sports Composite in Will Ignont is strongly considering Auburn, Alabama, Michigan and Mississippi State.

• A pair of Ohio State commits will roam the secondary in Top100 recruits safety Isaiah Pryor (who could also play linebacker) and cornerback Marcus Williamson.

Every year a few 2018 recruits earn an invite to The Opening and headliners from IMG in that class include the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country per 247Sports in Taron Vincent, the country’s No. 1 cornerback in Christian Tutt, four-star receiver Brian Hightower and Top247 safety Mike Jones Jr. The Buckeyes have the 247Sports Crystal Ball advantage for Vincent and it’s Georgia that has it for Tutt.

Highest-Ranked Prospect
That honor this weekend goes Orlando (Fla.) First Academy’s Calvin Ashley.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Ashley is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 4 prospect overall. He is the No. 2 offensive tackle in the country. He is looking to Get Open for a second year in a row as he was one of the few underclassmen invited last summer.

Ashley committed to Auburn back in May and remains solid to the Tigers.

More Top100 2017 Recruits
Leading the defensive back group will be the country’s No. 3 cornerback in Ohio State five-star commit Shaun Wade and the No. 2 athlete per the 247Sports Composite in Georgia five-star commit Richard LeCounte III.

In addition to Ausbon, the receiver group will also be headlined by Lakeland (Fla.) High Top50 recruit James Robinson and Wade’s Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian teammate and Florida State commit D.J. Matthews. Clemson is considered the heavy favorite for Robinson.

In the trenches, the match-up of the day figures to be Ashley versus the No. 3 strong-side defensive end in America per 247Sports in Tampa Hillsborough’s Zachary Carter, who arrives keen on Florida and Clemson. The Gators are the Crystal Ball favorite.

North Carolina is in a great spot with 247Sports Top100 running back Adarius Lemons, the No. 7 player in the country at his position.

Notables
• Big names competing in the Elite 11 portion along with Mond include Florida commit Jake Allen from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, Kentucky commit Mac Jones out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles, and the No. 8 dual-threat passer in the land N’Kosi Perry, a former Miami commit with offers from Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

• More high-profile skill players on offense include the No. 8 running back in the country per the 247Sports Composite in Lakeland (Fla.) High’s A.J. Davis (Florida is the Crystal Ball favorite), Top247 athlete Bruce Judson (former Ohio State verbal looking at Florida, Florida State, the Buckeyes and South Carolina), Tampa Plant four-star receiver Juwan Burgess (Clemson is the Crystal Ball favorite), Top247 athlete Deejay Dallas (likes Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Stanford), Tampa Bay Tech four-star receiver and Florida commit Daquon Green, Atlanta Pace four-star receiver Trey Blount (likes Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Tennessee).

• A pair of Miami commits in Nick Roberts from Orange Park Oakleaf and Ahman Ross from Jacksonville Bolles are two more notables in the secondary, and Florida State verbal Bradley Jennins is slated to compete with the defensive backs as well.

• Notre Dame offensive tackle commit Dillan Gibbons and Northwestern linebacker commit Blake Gallagher are in the field.

• Perhaps the best 2018 recruit on the field will be the No. 1 safety in the country per 247Sports in Tyreke Johnson. Holding 20 offers, Florida State is already considered the favorite.

• The top 2019 on the field may be Dunnellon (Fla.) High’s receiver Maurice Goolsby who already has scholarships from Florida and North Carolina."

Lol...Lady Vols choke another game away after missing multiple FTs in last 30 seconds to put it away. This time to a 8-18 LSU team. How sad! Now 16-11 and 7-7 in SEC. Shouldn't make the tourney IMO. Terrible! Please start a petition to fire Holly!

Personally I'm glad they lost. Make it impossible for her to stay another year

Surely even the diehard LV supporters are turning on Holly at this point.

Their forum is really fun right now. lol. I can't get OGbaby to go in there with me. The defenders of HW have beat a hasty retreat of late.

She has All-Americans and yet lost to a team that had to ask for walkons to field a team. That is Dooley level bad.

May be time for her go. There is surely a line of top coaches that would love the LV job.

So Holly...

Why would he keep her?

Because depending on what her buyout is (IIRC it is significant) it's not fiscally sound to fire her in a non revenue sport. Besides that, she won like 30 games last year, won the sec regular season last year and went to the elite 8.

I do not watch LV basketball. It sounds like Warlick is really struggling and probably not gonna be the answer but my guess is that if its up to Hart she's getting another year at least.

Good points, just for clarification isn't the LV BBall program one of the few that operates with a profit?

Last I saw the LV's turned a $20-25K profit.

Holly has to go. She runs a high school double post half court offense with a transition roster. Refuses to change. They play terrible D and are turnover queens. She has lost the team. She has zero recruits for 2016 committed and is unlikely to sign any top talent because the players and parents see what is happening. The profit or even close to break even goes away if something is not done now. Hire big and mold the remaining Parade AA's into a quality team and the new HC can then bring in elite players again.

FWIW - using last year's LV team as an example for winning doesn't work with this year's team. They had Burdick, Harrison and Massengale. Quality players that played to win on both ends of the court at 3 different positions.

Derek Dooley 2011.

Holly Dooley 2015-16.

Both personified the Peter Principle. Both got another year to prove the obvious.

The difference is DD coached a terrible roster terribly, and holly is coaching a team full of all Americans terribly.

I'm sure Mickey dearstone will still be making excuses for Holly during his pitiful excuse for a sports show tomorrow morning. I hope callers burn him up about it.
