Appoint another Kagan or Sotomayor and anything is possible. State of California for instance, wants to enact gun restrictions, case goes to the Supreme Court, Kagan, Breyer, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor rubber stamp anything California wants to do. They just need one more vote.

Imagine the Heller or McDonald decisions with a SCOTUS leaning away from that 5-4 favor. McDonald was a landmark case that applied the 2A to all States equally. And Heller finally gave a clear definition of arms.

Neither of those would have come to pass had the SCOTUS been favored the other way.

I get tired, however, of absolutists who claim this or that will inevitably be the end of the 2nd Amendment. What does that even mean? This country will never outright ban all guns. It's asinine to think it ever will, whether ye be conservative, moderate, or liberal.
