The Senate, in Republican control, will not confirm anyone Obama nominates to the Supreme Court. You can count on that as fact.
It would be political suicide for them to surrender on this. The GOP base is already fractured and tired of them, they can't afford to let this happen if they have hopes of getting people out on Election Day.
Of course, the flip side is that you have people painting the GOP as obstructionist, which could turn off independents and possibly make a small difference in a few races in a year where the Senate could easily flip.
The fallout will be fascinating to watch.

I think the one way the Republicans could possibly frame this and delay any appointments is by saying that Obama has gotten to appoint two Justices and no President should have the influence on the court to appoint 1/3rd of the court. Don't know if it would work but worth trying. Everything will depend on the Republican Senate leaders who are mostly statists.
