They gave up 500 yards to Bowling Green so I'd argue they got gashed there. I wouldn't say they dominated OU for the whole game, although they certainly dominated them for most of the game and they wore down late as they were on the field too long. Agree on Arkansas and the other games.

Overall, it was a pretty good season for the defense and a nice step 9forward. I think with the talent and experience of the players plus the addition of Shoop there could be a large improvement this year.

BG gashed everyone.

They didn't play the best players a lot of that game either.

I'm extremely ready for the '16 season to kickoff, this is the most talented/deepest roster we've had since 2001. Zero excuse to not be in Atlanta next December.

Has it been mentioned the Ole Miss Dir. of Recruiting has resigned?

Edit: my bad guys, I wasn't entirely accurate. It was the ASSISTANT recruiting director and football scoop says they are told it's not related to the allegations...

The Scoop – FootballScoop

Of course, they are going to say it's not related, but my guess is that it is.

Oh yea forgot that. What a gaffe. Jumper was almost non-existent but I guess he was valuable for a time I don't know.

Why is everyone so sure Kirkland was ready that early? It's not hard to imagine a true freshman wasn't inspiring confidence that early.

I know I wasn't at practice to know.

He chased and threw Matt Johnson down and caused a fumble like a wild banshee. We didn't need Jumper's "run support" alignment help that game. He could have used the early lumps. Would have possibly won the Oklahoma game had he started. Wild I know but it's one man's opinion :)

From 'sources', like the ones some writers use. :) In my case an actual VFL that occasionally attends practices.

It only took a few plays for anybody to see Jumper was out of his element. Yet, in practice many saw that all Kirkland lacked was experience to be able to help. Butch and staff's MO has nearly always been to defer to the older guy until they are completely satisfied the younger guy can do better except in cases of injury.

They started the drumbeat in the media reports to justify Jumper in August. Minds were already made up despite Jumper being a walk on and also having zero starts. That's all we are saying. Obviously they were looking for an Alex Ellis type deal. Swing and a miss. It happens.

Yep. There's no way Kirkland went from worse than jumper to 10000 times better than Jumper in a few weeks. He was always better, but coaches missed it. That doesn't make them bad coaches, but let's call a spade a spade.

I can understand the reservation starting a freshman, but a walk-on equally devoid of experience??? Yup a bad call all the way around, they must have had major pucker factor. Thing is they had the C.A. Jonses to grow a frosh Cam out there... AT CORNER OF ALL PLACES.
