I agree. It depends on region. 100k in a place like Manhattan is not wealthy at all compared to Kansas.

I think we can come to a reasonable understanding based on cost of living and family size.

The way I look at it is this, if you can save 50% or more of your salary each month, you're rich. If not, then probably not. As a single male there was a time when I was saving approximately 50% of my salary each month. That personally made me feel rich.

What does family size have to do with it? You made the choice to have children. YOU pay for them.

That's actually a very compelling issue you bring up about employers and a sort of double taxation that could happen to folks like you. It would be a great question to ask Bernie Sanders.

On the extra tax for the wealthy. I think it depends on if you're a single guy making 100k or a family. Obviously a single guy can afford a 5-10% increase in taxes when making over 100k. I made that much a few years ago when I worked in the private sector and as a single male, I could afford more taxes.

This idea that paying 52% under Sanders at the top marginal rate rather than 39% is some overwhelming burden is false. It's easily affordable for people who make that much.

How much is "that much"?
