I'm amazed at how some people want to use certain European countries as a benchmark for how to implement social programs. The problem is these European countries are predominantly white. Just wait until the Syrian and Northern African refugees swamp the native populations.

They'll end up with the same problems we have.

Tell us how you really feel.......

Those countries aren't really socialist - they have relatively free markets to help back their extensive welfare systems. Norway's is successful in large part due to their vast oil reserves, which is not a luxury most countries have. Take it from the prime minister of Denmark:

Danish PM in US: Denmark is not socialist - The Local

Sanders, meanwhile, wants to inhibit the free market even more via higher corporate tax rates, financial transaction taxes, and increased taxes across the spectrum. Anyone who thinks that companies will want to stay in the US after that is crazy. He's doing the exact opposite of what Scandinavian countries do to promote growth, or in some cases (FTT) he's doing what has already been attempted to little success.

Their populations are also relatively homogeneous and are a fraction of the size of America's. You have to be one hell of an idealist to get everyone to buy in to such a system AND have it succeed here. I suspect he won't even get past the former. Americans don't like increased tax burden.

Another thing people don't account for is NATO. Dissolve NATO or at least relinquish the idea of US intervention on their behalf, things change. It's easier to get creative with spending when defense is not a worry.

It's total crap that millennials want me to pay for their college. Go get a student loan like the 100+ million people did before you

If college is 100k.. That is just $5500 a year for 18 years or $106 per week... Planning is the key.. It's not that hard

Not an option for many people. My parents paid for mine, but my wife's family was lower middle class. No way they could've saved that much for college.

No.

Sanders is about balancing the playing field which is right now rigged against the average American in favor of the super rich.

It's not stealing someone's money to require they pay higher taxes if they make more money. That is called a progressive tax system. And when we redistribute wealth we aren't giving people who haven't worked "stuff." We're simply providing them with basic rights such as healthcare and education. You look at that as handouts. We progressives look at it as providing our citizens with basic rights.

No one is suggesting we give people who don't work a salary to buy gifts. We simply believe there are basic rights every man woman and child has a right to.
The problem is that for the socialist math to work, super rich will include anyone making over $100K. I hope one of these days you get a real job... you probably won't be as thrilled at the prospect of giving the majority of your labors to someone else.

I graduated with a degree in political science in college taking many classes on political philosophy. Then I went to law school. Since then, I've worked in Washington DC both in government and the private sector.

These are issues near and dear to me. I'm not one of those young voters who are just hopping onto leftist causes cause they are hip. I've studied these issues regarding government, politics, and fairness my entire life.

It's the reason I'm confident in my positions and passinationate.

How'd you get to be so naive?

Mmmmm. I agree parents should plan, but tuition changes rapidly it seems.

The issue with tuition cost is government intervention. Government backed loans and financial aid having created an outrageous and unnecessary demand which has caused prices to explode

Was your father in a union? Either parent a teacher? Are you Caucasian or African American? Of soviet descent? I'm trying to understand where you're coming from other than the dunce corner

While from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and the rest of the Scandinavia, socialism has been more successful than capitalism in America.

The Scandinavian countries have higher levels of happiness than everyone in the world. They have the lowest levels of crime.

I'll take less money in my pocket because of higher taxes if I'm more happy. And everyone else in my country is happy.

What are the demographics of Scandinavia? Also, have you been? Do you know how expensive everything is? You sound as if you're 13 and have no real world experience. At all.

Go out and get a real job You'll change your mind quick enough. With the credentials you just showed, I'll wager you are one of the first in line at the lobbiest/government teat. Get out and work for a living... in the private sector... away from DC.

Fairness. You wouldn't know fair if it hit you in the forehead.

That's actually a very compelling issue you bring up about employers and a sort of double taxation that could happen to folks like you. It would be a great question to ask Bernie Sanders.

On the extra tax for the wealthy. I think it depends on if you're a single guy making 100k or a family. Obviously a single guy can afford a 5-10% increase in taxes when making over 100k. I made that much a few years ago when I worked in the private sector and as a single male, I could afford more taxes.

This idea that paying 52% under Sanders at the top marginal rate rather than 39% is some overwhelming burden is false. It's easily affordable for people who make that much.
Who are you to determine what is affordable? That is arrogant.

It seems this is the issue with the young bleeding hearts. Some that eventually start making money and getting raped by taxes do wise up...... And then there's what's known as dumb@**€s that never do
