Agree. In short yardage or goal line situations we have a need for this type blocked instead of a TE. And honestly, we really don't have a true brute of a blocking TE on the roster. Would be wise imo.

Yeha I remember, but still man, playing with a broken forearm that you screws put in exactly 13 days before the game. That's still quite impressive. I mean it's broken, I know screws are in it, but it's not like he was healed in 13 days. I remember the play it happened, that big TE basically did a flying knee to his arm and broke it.
I knwo he wore that black thing over and probably was all shot up with painkillers but still, you'd think it hurt every time on those high speed collisions, over and over.

His last pass could have very well been a completion for a 2-point conversion to seal the game. Manning sure didn't win this game, but if there is a QB in the history of the sport that deserves to be carried by his defense for once, it's Peyton Manning.

I don't think Cam quit on that fumble recovery though. I was rewatching it, and it looks to me like he was trying to scoop it up and extend the play but when the Broncos player dove on it, he was stuck in no mans land. To close to dive for it, but too far to reach better. And that caused his awkward movement to make it look he didn't care.

Kinda like in baseball where if you start to slide into a base, but then realize you're too close and your body does an awkward spasm.

He definitely made the wrong choice and should've dove from the beginning, but I don't think he was quitting

Agree completely. You said it better than I could have. I just didn't even go there cause I know I wouldn't have articulated it as well as you did.

I didn't think he was giving up on that play.

I agree with this. I think he saw the Bronco player diving and thought he is going to get their sooner so I'll wait to see if it bounces out. It definitely didn't look good on the replay, but to say Cam isn't a tough player and all that is ridiculous.

Seriously? Malik's teammate fell on him after he'd already secured the ball to make sure no Panther got there first. You jump first and think later. This is instilled in junior high.

You guys are stretching this one.

For those well versed in Tennessee high school football. In what order would you rank the top 10 football players in Tennessee for '17?

Regarding Cam, his teammates should kick the s--- out of him for dogging it on that fumble. Get on the ground. Your team busted its ass for you all night, and you didn't have their backs when it mattered most.

Having said that, I don't care about the press conference. Whether you're classy or a punk, it's ultimately worth the same number of points on the field. These people are not role models to me, so I don't care how they act. Nothing but water cooler talk.

Would be awesome if we go normal zone-read offense through the first 3 games, then when Florida comes to town we suddenly run a pure pro-style offense with a fullback.

Plus, it gives opposing defenses something else to have to prepare for. Anything to make the offense more dynamic is a good thing.

It's especially good when you have so many experienced guys now. They aren't having to spend all their time on just the basics. It's amazing what a little experience and depth can do for your team.

Just going off everything I have seen / heard, 247 Composite rankings seems to be pretty accurate.

That is big. Having to prepare for multiple formations and personnel would certainly benefit us.

Ive always thought Hurd would really blossom in power formations like LSU and Bama run a lot.

A few of my favorite college memories of Peyton:

Washington State game his freshman year - Hubbs reminded me of this one. Washington State came in with a good defense and not much offense. Fulmer wouldn't let Peyton off the leash and just had him manage the game so the defense could win it. If memory serves though Peyton hit two long passes, one to set up a TD and one for a FG. UT won 10-9.

1994 Gator Bowl - Peyton was just okay as a freshman. He was 7-1 as a starter but his stats weren't great. He didn't make a lot of mistakes but only threw for a little over 1000 yards. This was the first tangible proof fans had that they had someone special on their hands. He lit them up and ended any talk of a QB controversy (I believe Brandon Stewart transferred after this game).

1995 Alabama game - From the first play (an 80 yards TD pass to Joey Kent) UT owned them this game. For modern fans, think of the way you would feel if UT blew the Gators off the field this year and that's the way UT fans felt that day. The Alabama games had become a farce where even when UT had a better team they would lose. A loaded Heath Shuler led team tied Alabama one year with Alabama playing a receiver at QB. Manning didn't just win, he ended that run with an explanation point.

1997 SEC title game - this one was closer than it should have been but UT got it done. For all those that said Peyton didn't win the big games the SEC title game was pretty big. A comeback that UT won despite shooting themselves in the foot.

The shoot out with Tim Couch in 1997 was good too. It was one of the few games where Manning was clicking and the other team scored enough that he had to keep his foot on the accelerator. He finished with 500 yards and 5 TDs.
