I really think Cam had this coming. From the stupid quote and the crap that an ESPN talking head was spewing.

This game was really poetic justice.

I really thought there would be more of a celebration in here with Peyton winning another ring. Especially since no one was giving the Broncos much of a chance in that game.

I'm sure someone will love to tear down this opinion, but here is mine

First off, the game was terrible to watch outside Manning going out on top (which was great) and Jackson scoring the first TD. Even the commercials were bad this year IMO

Second, I was hoping for something more Storybook for Manning. He finished with 0 TD, 2 turnovers and under 150 yards passing with a 56 QB Rating. I hoped he would come out and look vintage, score 3 or 4 times and win MVP

Instead he got carried to this Super Bowl by an elite defense in a manor that feels a bit cheap.

He deserved the win because of his career, yes. He certainly was owed one of these for some of those times in Indy.

But, I guess I just wanted him to slam the door on the GOAT thing, throw a bunch of middle fingers on his way out and UT build a statue of him and sit it in front of Neyland

Instead he really kind of Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnsoned his way into this Super Bowl. However, I do think his performance against the Pats was quite good and shouldn't be forgotten. To me, that was the real Super Bowl...or at least, how I wanted my last memory of Peyton playing to look like.

doesn't matter got rings :)

I understand what you're saying, but as someone made the point in here earlier...it's fitting that after those times carrying the team on HIS back, it was Peyton's defense that carried him THIS year and got him another title.

Small edit. I'm sure all those guys sent their Super Bowl rings back because they all felt guilty for not really earning them.

The same people who tear down Peyton for not winning more rings earlier in his career when HE was the team will now tear him down for not being the team at age 39.

Ultimately it doesn't matter. He now has 2 rings and his legacy is better than it was this morning. It's stupid that it comes to things like this, but that's the way it is. There are no asterisks for winning a Super Bowl with a less than stellar performance under center. Especially with a career as decorated as Peyton's.

Just doesn't make any sense to me. People whine about him showing off but can't wait to see him fail so they can gloat.

It's hypocritical. All I'm saying.

If you're going to showboat when you win, you better show some class when you lose.

Given how skinny he is now, I would hate to see Hubbs when he described himself as "rail thin."

That's a truly excellent piece by Hubbs. What an amazing ambassador Peyton Manning has been and will continue to be for the University of Tennessee and the Vols. I can't think of another "current" player in the NFL so successful, so larger than life, and so beloved by his alma mater (and so loving in return) than Peyton.

UNC has Jordan in basketball, but his legacy is and always will be with the Bulls. Somehow Peyton's legacy in Knoxville is as proud and important and relevant in 2016 as it was in Jan. 1998 when he donned the Orange and White for the last time, despite all of his incredible NFL accomplishments.

He can't win. If he had a defense like this when he was in his prime, he'd have rings on all fingers and toes.

He wasn't superman, but "Superman" Cam Newton and Tom Brady looked far worse. Sometimes that is what happens when you play a really good team.

Cams presser might actually do him a favor. It takes so much talk away from perhaps the most blatant play of "I don't care about winning" in SB history. Unreal the lack of effort on that play.

These.

Late to this party, had an early start to our day so I hit the sack right after the game and missed the Cam sham. I did catch his refusal to play football during that last fumble during the game. Which is exactly what you would expect to happen when somebody places self above team.

Cam is an extraordinary talent in a team game. Team - not individuals. That Dilfer has a ring should have told the world that is a fact. There are many ways to win a football game. Fully utilize the strengths and mitigate the weaknesses. Seattle exposed Carolina in the second half of their playoff game. The facts are Cam needs better offensive targets to utilize and his O-line was exposed as not being as good as Denver's D-line. Add in Cam is no Tom Brady in reading D's, yet, even Brady was confused against Denver. Any QB has very little time to read it.

Denver's O-line was also exposed against the Panthers' D. So PM had little time. He hit some short to intermediate stuff and got FG's. He game managed, which was their only chance to win. Kubiak deserves it - he stuck to his guns and did it the only way it could have been done. But the MVP is the whole Denver D - with Wade Phillips deserving much honor. PM deserves it big time. He contributed to team success more than anybody every season of his career until this one. A fitting parting gift to the GOAT.

When Cam can handle defeat as well as victory he will become a complete person as well as QB. Cam's celebrations are part of who he is, which is OK in my book. But he shouldn't take exception when others mock and use them. What goes around comes around. If you are instigating smack, expect it coming back at you when you fail. Which is why PM, Brady and many other SB winners don't do it. He needs to grow from this. Will be watching.

Haters will find a way to use this ring against him.

"He got benched that season"

"His stats sucked in that Super Bowl"

"His defense won that ring for him"

They will conveniently forget the tuck rule that gave Brady his first ring as well as the horrible call by the Seahawks that handed Brady his fourth ring. They will also forget how great the Patriots' defense was for each of his first three rings and finally, they will forget that he missed a wide open Welker that could have given him a 5th ring. Brady is great, no doubt. Peyton in greater :)

Personally, I have no problem dancing after a TD. I have a problem taking 20 seconds to dance after a first down on your own thirty 3 mins into the second quarter during week 5 type of crap.

If you are going to Gloat, showboat and celebrate when everything is good then you better man up and be humble when it isn't. Acting the way Cam did at the press conference is the opposite of sportsmanship. He s$&t on the game of football, the NFL and all who came before him.

Every losing qb has had to answer the dumb questions and most do it and do it with class. Cam showed his ass today and deserves to get demolished for it.

When you dance and rub your success in peoples faces, you better take losing with grace. Not doing so is hypocritical, sirs. Cam does not deserve anything because Cam. He has to earn it. He did not earn a Superbowl win, he did not earn understanding from the public given his attitude toward showboating all season when they were undefeated. I don't hate Cam but I also don't put him anywhere near an elite all timer. With this attitude, he'll be another daunte culpepper.

I don't think so. The Presser alone would be quicker news. I think it'll compound the issue with Cam. Twitter isn't forgetting. I lost my respect for him this game when he lined up to be a lead blocker on one of the plays and dipped when bronco defenders were in pursuit toward him. He was very scared this game. IMO

I have so many great memories of Peyton at Tennessee and in the NFL. I think my favorite was sitting in my car, listening to the press conference where he was going to announce whether or not he would stay for his senior year. I remember Kiper saying he was gone and I remember the "feels" when the press conference started. After he said, "never look back...I am staying at University of Tennessee (or something to that effect), I absolutely lost my mind. I was screaming like we had just won a Natty. People in my parking lot at work thought I was nuts, and I was for just a little while. Happy, happy day.
