'17 TN ATH Maleik Gray (UT signee)

Gray is a LB all the way. Doesn't have the skill set to be a college RB. Doesn't even play RB for his HS. Plays WR and OLB. Only other option I see is possible TE and that's unlikely.

Yup. Great LB. Wouldn't surprise me if he got some reps at S just to see, he's athletic enough

I don't post on TOS so I'll say it here. If he doesn't pick FSU I'll jump out a plane butt naked. And it's not because of the losses, he'd go to FSU even if we went undefeated the next two years. Grew up a FSU fan, loves them. Great kid too so keep your bashing to a minimum when he picks them

"I've spoken with Jacoby (Stevens), Princeton and Gentry Bonds about the chance to stay instate and player together," Gray said. "They were for it so it's definitely something we could all end up doing."

"They are on the rise," Gray said. "Jalen Hurd, Josh Malone, Derek Barnett are all coming back and with the rising talent they are going to be good in the future. Coach Jones came by my school last week and I know that me staying in state is important to him."

What caliber of player is Gray? Just now learning about these '17 guys and would love to hear some info!

Not per de1.

Not sure what he has against this kid but he is a must get.

Out of this county, Jacoby is THE must get. Maleik, P.Fant, and Gentry would be icing on the cake. I've seen MG play for the last 3 years, and here is my honest observation.

He is insanely athletic, but it doesn't lend to production a lot of the time. I wonder how much of his production/play on the field is due to his coaching and the overall situation of the program. If he were at Oakland or Blackman, for example, I think you would see drastically different on field play. Of course that is just my opinion.

He doesn't have to have something against the kid to disagree with his ranking.

^^^^This^^^^

I have no dog in the hunt, but I think the ranking is a little high too. He is definitely top 150 worthy, but being at #31 appears to be based on camp performance and potential rather than film and on-field production. That being said, I hope he signs with us, because he is definitely a Power 5/SEC kid.

Per Hubbs

In speaking of the impact of Bob Shoop's impact on the recruiting trail in the Midstate, he has a long-standing relationship with a number of these players and that includes Gray. Shoop offered Gray before his freshman year when he was at Vanderbilt and the two have stayed in touch since.
