Battle at Bristol Attendence

It's become more of a guy's weekend than a race trip. A couple of days of golf and good times without the better half. :eek:lol:

Has anyone mentioned that this game stands a very real chance of being an unbreakable Guinness World Record for most people at a CFB game?? I believe OSU-Michigan holds it right now.

the record would be for any American football game, college, professional or high school.

With the possibility of GameDay attending.

Not to mention the small fact that on the biggest stage available that week (presumably Gameday will be there to boot), we're going to kick Virginia Tech's ass all over the field. They may as well send out 100 random fratboys.

It's pretty much a certainty that it will be, because the college game slate for that afternoon is awful; it was a great idea by whoever did it to have the game played the second weekend of the season rather than the first or third.

Look at the Power 5 school games for 9/10/16:

  • Tennessee vs Virginia Tech

  • Arkansas vs TCU
  • Texas Tech vs Arizona State
  • South Carolina vs Mississippi State
  • BYU vs Utah
  • Penn State vs Pittsburgh
  • UVA vs Oregon

  • North Carolina vs Illinois
  • UCF vs Michigan
  • Iowa State vs Iowa
  • Western Kentucky vs Alabama
  • Arkansas State vs Auburn
  • Kentucky vs Florida
  • Nicholls State vs Georgia
  • Jacksonville State vs LSU
  • Wofford vs Ole Miss
  • Eastern Michigan vs Missouri
  • Prairie View vs Texas A&M
  • Middle Tennessee vs Vanderbilt
  • SMU vs Baylor
  • ULM vs Oklahoma
  • Ohio vs Kansas
  • Central Michigan vs Oklahoma State
  • UTEP vs Texas
  • Youngstown State vs West Virginia
  • Ball State vs Indiana
  • Tulsa vs Ohio State
  • Howard vs Rutgers
  • Indiana State vs Minnesota
  • Wyoming vs Nebraska
  • Illinois State vs Northwestern
  • Cincinnati vs Purdue
  • Akron vs Wisconsin
  • Nevada vs Notre Dame
  • Cal vs San Diego State
  • Idaho vs Washington
  • Washington State vs Boise State
  • Grambling State vs Arizona
  • Idaho State vs Colorado
  • UNLV vs UCLA
  • Utah State vs USC
  • Boston College vs UMASS
  • Troy vs Clemson
  • Charleston Southern vs FSU
  • NCST vs East Carolina
  • Mercer vs Georgia Tech
  • FAU vs Miami (FL)
(Louisville, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Duke have ACC games which haven't been publicly released yet. Maryland also has to schedule another game)

Had it been scheduled for week 1 it would have to compete with games like - Alabama vs USC, Clemson vs Auburn, LSU vs. Wisconsin, UCLA at Texas A&M, Notre Dame vs Texas, Ole Miss vs. Florida State, Kansas State vs Stanford, and Houston vs Oklahoma.

And had it been a week later (Week 3) it would have been competing against the likes of: Notre Dame vs Michigan State, Ohio State vs Oklahoma, Oregon vs Nebraska, USC vs Stanford, UCLA vs BYU, Mississippi State vs LSU, and Alabama vs Ole Miss (And possibly FSU vs Miami)

Brilliant scheduling!

FYI-I got a call from BMS ticket office this past Monday(1-25-16) letting me know that my credit card was about to be charged for the remaining balance on our Battle at Bristol tickets.

Total cost for 1 ticket in the yellow section(Yarborough/Jr Johnson-see seating chart link below) is $152.95.

Looks like there will be another college football game at BMS the following weekend.

Battle at Bristol Part 2: ETSU v. Western Carolina on Sept. 17 | WJHL

Make sure you get tickets for the correct game! :)

This game won't draw 500 people. Including the players and coaches. What's the point?

502! My boy just graduated from WCU and took him and about 20 of his frat brothers and friends to the Vols vs Cats at Neyland last year. They were on the Jumbotron with the Purple body paint doing the wave when they scored:peace2: This year its going to be back to back weekends in Bristol for us. "Its football time in Tennessee" cant come soon enough.

So you are suggesting they have already sold upwards of 170 thousand tickets?

If so, that's just an irresponsible claim.

They may, eventually, call it as sell out. But, the majority of those tickets are or will be purchased by 3rd party sources and moving closer to the game ticket prices will be outrageous. I'm sticking to my prediction of between 80-100k actually attending. Maybe 100k similar to Neyland. If it gets upwards of 120k or more then it will be from the Viginia Tech side and that will SHOCK me......

I've requested 4+ infield seats. I'll buy as many as they'll allow at 400 a pop.

Hold the phone. How long has this second game been on the slate? I've not heard about it until I read this post.

I don' think it was ever said this was the only game ever at Bristol. I figure if like Titans vs Cowboys or something came up it could fill up pretty good.

Just got my seat assignments for Bristol. Six tickets row 30-31 in Yarborough Section A, should be right on the fifty.

Does Sunshine Tours know something we don't? Looking through their 2016 Trip brochure, it has scheduled times the buses are leaving and coming back. It has 6am pickup in Roanoke VA and back the same night at 7pm. Also says Kingsport/Johnson City pickup at 9am and return at 7pm. That would mean this game is played early, maybe even noon. That absolutely sucks. Says pickup in Wytheville VA at 730am and to return 530pm.

The game will not be at noon.

For those that are concerned about the view, or lack of, or the traffic, then by all means, stay home and catch the game on TV. I've been a race ticket holder at BMS for 25+ years and I've witnessed what Bruton Smith can do. I have every confidence that this game experience will be top notch.

GBO!

I have full confidence his main motivation is to Donald Trump that place and swim in the profits. I've been to a Bristol night race 7 items and The world of outlaws twice, if I'm near a sideline I will consider. Otherwise, I'll have to watch at home. The VT fans are sitting on their tickets until they hear more on the RV parking.

They probably do. It is not going to be a night game. Bristol does not have the lights for a football game to be played at night. I also don't think it will be a noon kick, but it will be between 1 and 3 .

Lights can be brought in, ESPN used to do it for the races before Bristol had adequate lighting for TV. But, I am not sure how one would know they wouldn't have lights, Bruton sure hasn't skimped on any other expense.

I would count on it being a night game.

A travel agency doesn't know any more about the game time than the average Joe on the street.
