I exercise so I can eat tasty food

Life's too short and food is too good to be miserable by not eating it.

Exercise to burn the calories you take in. And thereby stay in decent/good shape.

Boom. You're welcome.

I agree for the most part, but for some people "tasty food" can create serious addictions and all the problems that come with it.

I find a limited amount of fast food is the way to go. Enjoy some, but not enough to do damage.

Yeah I'm not a really big fan of fast food (though I do really like CFA, and then Taco Bell hits the spot sometimes). But sometimes it's about convenience

I eat whatever for breakfast, water all day, granola bars and fruit during the day if I get hungry, and eat like a horse at dinner. I hover around 180-185 always but I avg 10,000 steps a day sometimes more on busy days. Works for me.

This is spot on. I lost over 50 lbs last year eating almost anything I wanted and drinking all diet drinks I wanted and believe it or not with no exercise. For health reasons I am very restricted to what exercise I can do. The key for me was portion size. I am up at night a lot and love chips. They are just a huge weakness for me. If I wanted some I would go get 3 chips. Wait awhile , then if I wanted more I would get 3 more. Now maybe I might get 3 chips 4 or 5 times. So thats 12 to 15 chips. A lot better than eating half a bag unconsciously while watching tv or reading a book. Keep in mind when I was a kid we would go to Mcdonalds and my mom and dad would eat a small hamburger and a small fry each and be full. Rarely my dad might get a second burger and eat maybe half of it. Quarter pounders, Doubles at Wendy's, huge steaks are not normal portion sizes for the human body. You have to retrain your stomach to be full with much less in it then what you are eating now. Most people eat too much of the wrong kinds of bread. I eat less of everything then what I did before. It works.

I'm with Aesius..the keto diet is great for me. My metabolism kicks in overdrive. And I am never hungry. Dropped 68 pounds in 3 1/2 months. The hard thing is the sugar cravings. I love bread and pasta. I also drink about a gallon a day of Crystal light.

I understand what you mean. Last year I lost 35 lbs and at this time am trying to lose the extra 10 I'm keeping packed on. My wife and I used the T-25 program and it really helped a lot. She lost 20 lbs but is now pretty ripped. The program is 30 minutes but it is worth it.

Before the program I couldn't run a half mile without stopping, when I finished an overweight buddy was doing a 5K so I decided I would do it with him. I ran it easy with no training and went back and finished walking his out.

I'm just finishing up phase 1 of the original p90x. It's showing some results, but I would be doing a lot better if I had devoted myself to eating better to this point.

I appreciate all the tips from everyone. My main goal is to cut out the crap (fast food, etc.) and watching portions . I'll move on to the next step after that. Maybe in a couple months I'll update you guys on my progress.

I personally do not buy the "0 calories" part of diet soda. But I have definitely cut waaaay back on my soda intake. I drink at least 40 oz of water a day at work (not including what I drink at home) and that has really helped with my energy. The one thing I will not be able to give up is sweet tea. Ahhh yessssss.

Additionally, I would like to say this about diet drinks. I actually had a problem with NutraSweet ( Aspartame ). It would cause me to have migraines if I ate or drank any product with it as an ingredient. When I quit consuming it at a neurologist's advice my migraines where sharply reduced in number. My brother-in-law was having seizures similar to epilepsy. His doctor told him to quit drinking diet coke and they went away. I only drink diet drinks that do not have Aspartame in them. Thankfully that is getting much easier to find now that Coco-cola and Pepsi have both come out with diet drinks that have splenda instead.

I bought a Sodastream to carbonate water. It's awesome. I never feel the need to drink soda, diet or regular, now.

Took me about a year, but I started mixing unsweetened into my sweet tea little by little. I used to be a sweet tea addict, but now anything more than 25% sweet tea tastes awful to me. Hopefully I'll get to 100% unsweetened at some point, but my sugar intake is WAY down, and I never sacrificed any enjoyment

Artificial sweeteners are toxic, soda's are terrible for you, stay away.

Real food, exercise (I prefer burst workouts), and moderation.

If you want to go full unsweet, the quality of the tea and the steeping process become very important.

Everyone thinks I'm weird because I drink unsweet tea (grew up on it). Sweet tea tastes disgusting to me.

I've been trying to get my parents to stop drinking sweet tea for years. It's funny because they would be disgusted by the idea of drinking a gigantic soda, but think nothing about drinking a huge sweet tea that probably has more sugar than a 2 liter bottle of Coke.

Try to avoid carbs the best you can man. Especially 5 or 6 hours before you go to bed. If you watch alot of tv, try to get up and do stuff during commercial breaks as well. Good job with p90x. I finished up p90x3 last March, but I didn't change me eating habits, so it didn't do a ton for me. It's 80% nutrition though man. Good luck.

Agreed. McAlister Deli is the best I've found, I can tolerate their unsweetened, but still prefer to cut it with some sweet

I finally talked my mom into trying half and half. Took a few weeks of her not enjoying it, but she's already to the point where she doesn't enjoy full on sweet tea anymore because it's too sweet.
