'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

What do you mean we ain't all backwards hillbillies?! Most of my family came from Greenbrier in the Smokies. I can still use a triple negative sentence, and I'm college educated! (Only around family and close friends though)

Looks like our families plowed a lot of the same dirt. My family is from Little Greenbriar in the Smokies. The Walker Sisters are my great aunts. My Father was born in that cabin and went to the Little Greenbriar school.

Oh.. and I believe that we have a great chance to get Kongbo!

Good morrow neighbor. Just plowing the land. Hoping for a fertile spring.

Sorry. Your post made me think of the Direct TV settlers. :)

Or maybe he got tired of being badgered by them.

Come on, man...be realistic. The exact same thing happened with Lambert and Auburn. Hubbs and PFort could no longer get in touch with him. Recruits, especially those with legit interest in TN, usually get along very well with the VQ crew, because they are respectful of the kids and their decisions, and let them have their moment. When kids stop talking to them, it usually means bad things for us.

Ok.

Now keep the woe is me pessimism to yourself.

I'm still 100% on the Kongbo to UT train.

Isn't the simple explanation that Freeze went to Canada to talk to the family whereas we went to Arizona to talk to Kongbo himself considering he is likely back in school?

dude. that isnt woe is me sentimentality. it could be a very realistic scenario, dont you think? just because some of us arent sunshine pumpers 247 doesnt mean we dont add value as posters. i can appreciate the need for unbridled UT passion, but there is almost always two sides to every coin. Personally, it could be that Kongbo is shutting it all down, except for coaches, could mean hes cut UT out? Persosonally i appreciate the discussion...both viewpoints.

Cool, I mostly hail from the Ownby, Ogle, and Whaley clans 😄

The speculation is that Freeze saw Kongbo in AZ as evidenced by Kongbo's tweet showing him and Freeze yesterday. Later, CHF posted a picture that might suggest he flew into Canada to also see the parents, who seem to be bigger fans of Ole Miss than Jonathan himself. Ole Miss pushed their chips to the center of the table, I expect Tennessee to raise the bet.

Lol!! Dude, check my post history (except for my Lady Vol comments recently). I'm one of the most realistic and optimistic posters here, especially when it comes to recruiting with Butch and this staff. I have 100% confidence in them on the recruiting trail. However, I have seen this exact same scenario play out with a few of our recruits in the past, and it usually doesn't end well for us. I still have confidence that the staff can close this one out, until he signs elsewhere, but it is definitely eye opening for Ole Miss to really come out of no where again on an elite prospect.

He visited ole miss before committing to Tennessee and wasn't swayed by them then.

Unless you think this is a bag full of cash situation I doubt ole miss is a factor.

It's either us or USC.

I'm assuming TN raises the bet by sending Shoop to see Kongbo's parents as well. And then he'll just sit and smile at them until they're too frightened to stop Kongbo from signing with us.

But seriously Shoop's smile is borderline terrifying. I'd rather let Hurd truck stick me or Barnett form tackle me than sit in a room and have that man smile at me for 30 seconds.

Going to meet with his parents in canada was a strong play.
Perhaps we should do the same. One on one with the parents definitely fosters trust. From earlier posts about Bituli's parents talking about "watching over" him, there clearly is some anxiety there.

Looks like the coaches are on the west coast, so their next move will be telling. Up to Canada or back East.

My guess is last nights visit was our last trip allowed.

In order to see the kid and parents those visits had to be on the same day

Smart move especially if the parents didn't come on the visit to ole miss.

Did they attend the visit to ole miss?

To tenn?

Very smart move. I do not know of they visited with him at Ole Miss or not. However I think they did visit with him on the visit to UT

There ain't hardly nobody around anymore that can properly execute the triple negative.
