I've been blaming our losses on lack of rotational depth in the front 7 and untimely kicking failure. Many wanna blame the coaching, but maybe the coaching realized our starters were winded and wanted to run a slow, patient offense to eat some clock in an attempt to survive these late tight games. When your young depth keeps getting hurt, you sometimes have to do things you didn't necessarily plan to.

We get even more talent the coaches trust and, yeah, maybe we are only that 1 player away. I truly believe that player would have been Maggitt. But yet another injury along the front 7.

I believe there is a lot of wisdom and insight in this opinion.

I want UT to sign the #1 JC player and I trust the coaches but this sure seems like a lot of hoopla over a player that has played a half a year of high school and 1 junior college year. Seems more likely to turn out like Jakob than be an instant success anyway.

Can you guys at least let this kid commit elsewhere before you start talking about sour grapes?

he played at Wyoming first i thought? or something like that. Some kids just blossom late.

They still don't like African Americans in Mississippi.I work with a guy that was born and raised near Tupelo. He is educated and not what I would consider a back woods red neck at all.He still refers to them as subservient and beneath himself.Freeze and little Kiffin must really tell some tall tells to convince these kids to come play for ol colonel Reb.Beats all I've ever seen.

You really shouldn't make such huge generalizations. Because you know one guy from MS who's a racist makes not the other 2.9 million of us racists. But go on acting as if racism isn't alive & well everywhere

I'm kind of in this boat. I'll add that we have the DE position in a good place right now. Still would love to get him, but I'd trade 2 Kongbo for Landon Dickerson

Ole Miss fan boards think they have a great shot with every recruit.

Ole miss fans think they still have a shot at Drew Richmond, and there was one thread wondering if Peyton had any eligibility left and could keep the custom open of doing a "5th year" there.

Y'all do realize that based on population breakdown, Mississippi has the highest percentage of African Americans. More than any other state. Racism in Mississippi isn't as bad as y'all make it out to be. Granted, you will always have ignorant people everywhere. Just cause y'all watched Mississippi Burning doesn't mean that's how it is down here. It's the equivalent of people calling everyone from East Tennessee backwards hillbillies. Generally, not true.

Please, take the Civil War debate to the OT board. Thanks!
It's still an integral part of Ole Miss's heritage and one that they stubbornly cling to, for some absurd reason. The Confederacy was a FAILED endeavor and an evil one. As long as that University identifies itself with that confederate past, this subject will be, and should be, brought up time and again.

Be that as it may, the University still clings to an icon of failure and a horrific chapter in their history...despite the racial makeup of the state, itself.

The University does because the population supports it. Same with the state flag. Most down here do not care what happened 150 yrs ago. Just the general consensus. I have been down here for 4 1/2 yrs.

If they don't care, then why don't they move on from it, and change the moniker and all association with that ugly past? They don't want to...so yes, they actually DO care.

Oh, but it most certainly was. Again, slavery was so entrenched in the Southern economy and way of life, it was utterly offensive to suggest that it be made illegal by Republicans in the North. John Brown lit the powder keg. Confederate States feared violent revolts from blacks in the South would be a soon to come result. So, they made their move and started the war.

What is especially odd is that since the Civil War, it seems political lines have geographically swapped sides of the Mason Dixon line. Southern Democrats were the ones who championed slavery and birthed the KKK and Jim Crowe laws. Even all the way up until the 70's, Dem's opposed the Civil Rights movement and used the KKK as the terror wing of their party. Most Americans don't even know this.

Now, the Democratic party is largely predominant in the North and on the West Coast. They adjusted their strategy to use blacks to farm votes, rather than cotton. Keep 'em reliant on the government and they can keep them on their political plantation.

No section of this country is innocent when it comes to discrimination..NY supported slavery because of the cheap trade..they treated the European immigrants terribly..and research some of the laws that California passed around 1900 targeting the Asian population

They don't like being told from outsiders that they have to change it. If they do change it, it'll be when they are ready. Mississippians do things on their own time. Don't try to understand them. It doesn't make sense.

Racism or no racism, huge swaths of that state are nothing but cesspools.

Oxford is a pretty cool place with a lot of interesting history and culture though. It's like an oasis compared to most of the state.
