Peyton was a better passer than Newton. I don't really care about rookie stats, with a dozen other variables in play.

RG3 put up better numbers too, was he a better passer or any of the other guys I listed earlier.

Other than saying he wasn't as talented a passer coming out of college, I haven't put down Newton. If that can be considered a put down.

We can't sign enough players to slide into the 6-10 spot i would say 13 is as high as we can go considering Number constrains.

Why are folks acting like 247 is the only recruiting service?

Rivals and ESPN only count the top 20. If we sign all those guys, we're finishing top 10 on rivals and espn EASILY.

This will be a top 10 class. Stop with this misinformation about numbers.

Absolutely blows my mind that Auburn is still in the running for all these highly touted recruits considering they've sucked this year. Tenneseee would beat Auburn right now by at least 2 or 3 touchdowns. Not to mention their coach is on the verge of being on the hot seat. Yea, Auburn is such a great place to play football right now. Lol

Just goes to show how fickle and unpredictable recruiting can be. Auburn had a bad season yet still will likely land a very good class. You know what that tells me? That winning and winning big goes a long way in recruiting.

Because you're one of the very few that view Rivals and ESPN as great recruiting sites. ESPN sucks the hairy meatball when it comes to recruiting and rivals is just a little better.

You say stop with the numbers with 247 but advocate using rivals and espns numbers. It doesnt work that way.

Breaker, I'm just gonna have to respectfully disagree and end it at that because we could go on forever.

More pressing issues, have you had hot chicken?

I do find myself clicking the 247 profiles before the others. I also think the composite ratings is the way to go. Combination of all the sites.

I could live with 13 considering we are like 23 right now, 14 or lower though.. that's gonna be a problem

No we're not. We are #18 on rivals and espn.

You know the #1 recruiting site people follow (rivals) and the #1 sports media network (espn).

If we finish strong like many believe then we'll be top 10 on the 2 most important recruiting sites.

I could care less what 247 does.

Recruiting is about PERCEPTION. The 2 services with the most eyeballs are rivals and ESPN.

Why do you think everyone says we had back to back top 5 classes in 2014 and 2015?

Because we finished #5 on both espn and rivals. We were #7 in 2014 according to 247 and #4 in 2015. But no one says top 10 in back to back years.

How high we finish in the class rankings in ESPN and rivals matters the most. Which is why they're the only rankings I care about.

"Couldn't" care less..

And popularity doesn't necessarily equal quality. Just cuz ESPN comes from a more public forum, doesn't mean they know their stuff.

Lol I really dislike you now. 247 has an average, that's why I think it is most reliable.

That's because you think recruiting services know what they're doing. They don't. All of them miss on guys at about the same rate. None are any standard deviation better than the other at predicting who will be good and who won't.

Thus all recruiting sites are good for is PERCEPTION. Thats why it's always important we finish highest on the services with the most eyeballs.

And imo that starts with ESPN since they are the only one with a tv network behind them regurgitating narratives to the public. And then rivals because they're historically the oldest of the internet services.

PERCEPTION is all that matters.

None of them are reliable.

Just to back and look at the 2012 player rankings. All the sites missed on some hit on some. No one for example had Jameis Winston #1 in the class. No one had Amari Cooper or Leonard Williams as 5 stars.

If you can prove to me that 247 has more accurate rankings than rivals or espn then I'll believe you.

But as of right now all the services are the same in terms of accuracy.

Most people who follow recruiting follow 247. It's the most informative and thorough. They have timelines, better history on recruits, CBs, composite rankings, etc. It's really not even close.

I'd think anyone who cares at all about recruiting knows there are various sites and services. Yes, some 74 year old grand mother flipping through the channels on Feb. 3rd might stumble across ESPN and their recruiting broadcast. The rest of the millions of fans who follow recruiting knows ESPN isn't it.

Prove to me 247 knows their stuff?

I've looked back at classes in 2012 and 2013 and they're no different than rivals or espn. All 3 miss on some and hit on some.

Its not like every 5 star on 247 becomes a 1st round pick. They miss on players just like rivals and espn.

Well, you see...

...actually...

....... Hmmmm... However much it pains me to say this, I can't refute what you are saying here. Now keep to posts like this and leave posts saying that Mecole is more important than a top DT and Safety combined to the wayside.

There's a difference between 247 being the most informative vs 247 being the most accurate.

I don't doubt that 247 might be the best source for recruiting news. But to say their rankings are more accurate as a result is a misnomer.

All the sites are inaccurate or accurate at about the same rate. Thus it would be false to claim one ranking is more accurate than another.

If all the rankings have about the same level of inaccuracy then how can I be wrong for saying pay attention to the one that gets the most eyeballs.
