'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

This past year, guys like Barnett rarely got a breather. You could tell by the 4th Qtr in those 4 losses, that he was worn down and didn't have quite the motor he normally has.

Landing Kongbo and Brown would give us the kind of depth that gives Barnett and the starting DT's adequate rest, so they are good to go in the late 3rd and 4th Qtr. There was quite a dropoff behind Barnett, so Janzek was always reluctantly to give him a rest.

This

I've been blaming our losses on lack of rotational depth in the front 7 and untimely kicking failure. Many wanna blame the coaching, but maybe the coaching realized our starters were winded and wanted to run a slow, patient offense to eat some clock in an attempt to survive these late tight games. When your young depth keeps getting hurt, you sometimes have to do things you didn't necessarily plan to.

We get even more talent the coaches trust and, yeah, maybe we are only that 1 player away. I truly believe that player would have been Maggitt. But yet another injury along the front 7.

Kahlil said today on Periscope they were trying and he had actually talked to him today. He smiled when he said it, which I don't read into necessarily as a sign but at the same time I think if he was saying "no chance" it isn't going to be something to smile about. I feel good about Kahlil talking to him, roping guys in is what he became known for last year. Look at what he did with Drew Richmond. You never know

So we watch for smiles now in recruiting? That's the sign?......jk

Well, just because I had this thought and it is now stuck in my head (and so that it will now be stuck in your heads, too), if this kid signs with us I'm going to go around all day next Wednesday singing (to the tune of the Little Caesar's commercial): Do the Kongbo Mambo!!!

No chuckie. Just no.

This is what I don't understand. Do we believe we are this 1 player away from winning the SEC? If so let's get him. But if not we are exerting a lot of effort on a 1 year wonder. I guess we are done with brick by brick?

An FYI, if I recall correctly he actually has 2-3 years of eligibility. He's a raw player due to not having played his whole life, but he has the tools to be dominant. He'll likely come in a little unpolished, but it's nothing a little tutelage under Barnett can't fix.

Pretty sure he's a 3 to play 3 guy.
