There are dozens of receivers that dance for first downs. Von Miller dances after every sack (and I love it). I hated Cam in college, but if people are still mad about things that happened nearly a decade ago, that's petty IMO

Agreed. People need to let it go. It's not like Cam sat on female trainer's face. Everyone makes mistakes.

He gets 3.5MM to talk about perceived injustices and underlying tones in sports/society. It's his niche. It's basically a lot of griping and pessimism. I can't stand his style and he annoys me...

That said, the article is clearly not about race. He's right about the world rooting for Peyton and he clearly stated its not bc it's a black man on the other side. Don't agree that the media will make Cam the villain, just not give him Superman status.

If you separate the writer from the content there's nothing wrong with this article.

No one was calling Russel Wilson the "bad guy" in the past two Super Bowls and guess what, last time I checked he's a black man. Stephen A. can call it racism if he wants but it's really more about his controversy in college and his "all about me" persona he gives off. Even putting all of his teammates' names on his cleats was an indirect way of bringing more attention to himself. Dude is a phenomal player and MVP worthy but I don't have to like the way he represents himself.

If Cam's family took no money from his time at the barn then this is a non issue but his story doesn't work...

Who wouldn't be for PM? Auburn and Carolina fans, everybody else will be for PM.

Maybe not New England fans, then again probably not Steeler fans either.

The question should be who wil be for PM? Broncos and Vols.

Most NFL fans just want a good close game and don't have a dog in the fight.

Cam gonna be a villain, that's weak.

Try again.

He is right about this. Take your politics to the political forum.

Why? Is it not about football? Is it not about one of the most noticeable players to ever play at UT.

Cam is a great football player and will have a great career but Stephens intentions behind this aren't as they appear.

I like watching First Take because it's hilarious and entertaining. SAS's rants are extremely funny, especially the weed rants.

Ok talk about this. Not of all the other stuff SAS says.

The whole genre of daytime sports talk is just repetitive, bad TV.

agreed. i never watch, but yesterday i found myself at home putting in a new water heater....and they were on.

i'm listening to him and skip, and all i could think is these two have no clue what they're talking about. they're literally just making s..t up and saying it, and people slop it up like gospel.

i can't believe they make a living at this. it's the sports equivalent of the Jerry Springer show.

I haven't read the article but Smith often plays the race card when I don't think he should.

However, the reason why people see Cam as a villain is because of his cockiness and showboat. The same with TO and countless players. They're seen as villains instead of entertainers. I like Cam but sometimes I don't enjoy his cockiness. I love Peyton but sometimes I wish he would showboat.

I don't dislike Cam Newton, I know people don't like him because of the reasons you mentioned above. But Cam does a lot of charity work and does a lot more good than bad. Sure he's cocky but he has fun playing the game and he's good at it.

Stephen A Smith would have never brought this up had it been Carson Palmer vs. Peyton Manning, his agenda behind this was race driven and nothing more.

Does everyone like Cam's celebrations etc? No but everyone should know off the field Cam to know he really is a good person. In fact I would go as far to say he models Peyton off the field with his charity work.

With all that being said I hope Peyton wins next Sunday and I hope Cam continues to have a successful career in the NFL.

Didn't he make a comment about domestic violence concerning the Ray Rice incident that led to him be suspended from the show?

The lady that is a former employee of the Detroit Press, who is on the show is also a racist.

This has really been a funny and sad thread. Please...everyone.....look the words up....and reflect deeply (if you can) on them before you use terms "racist" or "racism"
