Anyone with a basketball iq of 10 knows where this is going. Nowhere in my post did I advocate Dave Hart firing her mid season. The "Lady" stuff is looked at as overblown by casual "Lady" Vol basketball fans. Diehard fans are/were extremely pissed.

He mismanaged that situation IMO but not in the way that the whiners think. IMO he should have either removed "lady" from all teams or just left it for all the women's teams. The slap in the face was to the softball program and other women's sports that were deemed "unworthy" to keep the "lady" on their jersey. But I think those teams have moved on. I've heard the softball team loves the new unis.

Anyway, that's not really the discussion.

He's not gonna fire Holly nor should he IMO. 30-6 last year with an elite 8 and regular season SEC championship. He's not gonna fire her 12 months later.

Pretty sad that we are making jokes at the expense of a kid that is obviously in a bad place.

A kid smoking pot is one thing and putting the blame solely on the kid is usually fair.

However when a kid is involved with coke that's another story. Any kid involved in something that severe needs support for sure

My sister is a 3 time junky who tried to commit suicide 3 different times. I have no sympathy for users. They are weak willed people when know better and want to use life's troubles to do drugs. We all got problems but some people are more man about it and deal with it.

That's a bit of a myopic view.

Doesn't mean that we should make light of the situation and laugh at the kid. That's someone's child and one of God's creations.

He most likely won't, hence my question. Great coaches recruit, motivate, scheme, and teach at a high level. Good coaches usually are good at 3 of the four. Holly is good at zero. Her recruiting is suffering, she can't scheme her way out of a wet paper bag, she obviously can't motivate, and she's not proven she can teach the game. Everyone knows where this is headed. They are getting ready to fall out of the polls for the first time in this century (or close to it I think). It's a failed experiment.

Again, imo, it's only a matter of time, so how far do you let it go before you do something? The problem here is the further you let it slip the harder it is to climb out. Men's basketball can turn around quicker and fans will jump back on quicker than women's basketball IMO. If she missed the tournament this year and then next year, it will be a 10 year rebuild and could likely never recover.

That's true but the Broncos knew that they didn't have to worry about a running game because the pats were on they're 3rd string rb. Carolina is the best all around team in the nfl, they can score running, throwing, and their special teams and defense scores points. Denver will have their work cut out for them to win this game and in my opinion they just don't have enough offensively to win.

Carolina is favored for a reason. However, a good opening drive for Denver and an early Carolina turnover, all of a sudden it's 14 - 0...and all the statistics and betting lines don't mean squat. Seattle says hi.

The biggest challenge for Carolina is having the week off. They are hitting on all cylinders and now they have to sit around for an extra week...and all the while listening to everyone tell them how great they are, how Peyton is over-the-hill, etc. The timing of the game presents a real possibility they could lose a bit of their edge. I'm not predicting this will happen, but it's something to consider.

He needs help and is worthy of consideration, but he is also an idiot. Both can be true.

Agreed . He is an idiot to get himself into this situation for sure but he clearly has a real problem if he can't get out of it. He had way too much support staff and motivation to stop not to have real demons

Good on ya, man. Thanks for speaking up.

Kind of needed to see this. I have a family member in rehab, and it's nice to know that there's still a chance for light at the end of the tunnel.

The people around him need to remove football from the equation IMO. They keep giving him chances so he sees no consequences for his actions.

Your sister isn't a "three time junkie". She is a drug addict. Doing drugs enough to get hooked on them was stupid. That's not a disease, and every person on the planet has acted stupidly. Being hooked to the point of being labeled a junkie is a disease. That might not jive with your world view on the subject, but that is the truth of it. Your sister is sick and needs help. Not a swift kick in the ass and a lecture. A doctor would never prescribe a kick in the ass and a stern talking to as treatment for any other disease.

This is always the toughest thing to come to grips with.

Perhaps the kid goes even further off the deep end without football.

I know there has to come a time where ties are cut all together but when a young adults health is clearly in question it isn't always as easy as saying your chances are up and you are gone.

My phone is definitely my Achilles heel.

My question is: how far is Dave Hart going to let it fall before he makes the change. Does he continue to let the program slip into the abyss over the backlash from trying to remove "Lady" from the program as a finger to the eye?

I think you hit the hot button. JMO, if Hart has full control and is petty, he will let them tube by leaving Holly on the throne. This really is Dooley bad. They will probably limp into the tourney and get waxed by the second round. But with all the grief Hart has been given, why not just let them go down the rabbit hole and say there was not enough money to make the change? Sell the public she deserves another year to get it done type stuff. He can make it all about finances, even though they have minimal impact on the bottom line. Meanwhile he lets them de-emphasize themselves without having to do anything.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. This is bigger than football.

I don't believe that a single person has stated they expect Denver to win. People have just been rebutting you saying that it is impossible for Denver to win. You have stated that as a fact, not an opinion. When someone does that on this website, usually people-- for good reason-- jump the post.

Do you see in the last sentence on the post you quoted me where it says in my opinion right?

No doubt it's bigger than football but does it get worse without it. Is the question

IMO most kids with issues get worse when athletics are no longer in their lives

Maybe, maybe not. The party scene associated with big time athletics on college campuses may contribute as well.
