Perry only one I know of

Stewart, Bruce, Oliver, Perry, Lovingood, and Young I'm pretty sure. Perry, Young, and Lovingood are for sure in. Stewart is a maybe. So that would be 21 if you include Stewart. I initially forgot about Young, but someone else mentioned him.

Question: Since Bruce and Oliver never went on scholarship, do they still count as initial counters? If I recall, they were about to be a blue shirt, but were cut before they enrolled. Might that mean we have 22 spots, 23 if Stewart doesn't ever enroll?

GFW dropped the hint that we might have more available spots than we thought.

This is in line with my thinking. It's my understanding of the blue shirt rule that scholarships aren't awarded until AFTER the first day of fall camp, which would have been August 2, 2015. Oliver left July 31 and Bruce was gone a week before that. In those situations, the only thing official at that point were admission papers. And they weren't counters since the blue shirt scholarship is essentially no more than an oral agreement UNTIL that second day of fall camp. So, I don't see why Oliver and Bruce have to count.

For similar reasons, I don't see why Stewart couldn't be counted in the 2017 class if Jones needs the spot in the 2016 class. In fact, that could explain why Stewart is set to come this summer instead of the spring.

That would actually make 23 spots available for 2016 and allow Jones to take 6 more. This is also in line with what some have said Hyams is reporting as well as what GFW posted. Also worth noting is that Carlin Fils-Amie tweeted last week after Callaway committed that there were 4 spots left. I don't think CFA came up with this number arbitrarily. In fact, it sounds like the kind of thing he may have been asked to put out there.

Yes, and every year we freak out about not having enough spots, yet the numbers always seem to work out.

And to be honest, I'm not even sure anyone really knows after the fact. I keep reading differing reports of who blueshirted, grayshirted, and even redshirted last year, leading me to believe only a very few know the true answers (and none are on this board).

Fortenberry says only 3. But I think they underestimated the number last year.

They did last 2 years but somehow Butch makes it work to fit in an extra body or 2. It was easier before though as you had some instate guys willing to blueshirt. this yr doesn't seem like we have that and staff doesn't want to cost a scholly for next yr. however if I was them I would take the guys now and worry about next yr at that time. One of these 5 guys is worth taking away a spot from next class

Wouldn't Stewart actually be a Blue Shirt against the '17 class if he waited till fall to go on scholarship? Perry, Lovingood, and Young are Blue Shirts against the '16 class because they enrolled last fall. That would bring the number up to 22, in my view.

As the players have reported at various times; buy in to Butch's program or go away. So those that don't or can't are moved out. Those that do, such as notable walk-ons that ended up on scholarship, are the winners. There are fewer of the former lately. It is all a part of his "process".

Some folks don't like this winnowing process of recruiting and that's OK. But it is a two way street. Flips work both ways. Until the NCAA changes the rules to the game, this is what we have.

I posted this is the Dickerson thread, but thought it needed a wider audience as I have no idea wtf is going to happen.

Fortenberry said we have three spots. There are no blue shirt candidates. The only way around that is we piss someone off with a gray shirt offer (assuming none were told that is a possibility up front).

Dickerson, Kongbo, Warrior, Brown, Byrd.

How do you say no to two of those? And what's up with an in-home with Moss and then an OV after that?

I say we have 3 unclaimed spots. I think at a minimum Warrior is already on board but he wants a NSD announcement so he is keeping it "open" to add a little mystery. I feel this may be the case for at least one other of Brown or Dickerson as well but I feel less sure about them than I do Warrior. If that is true then the 3 "unclaimed" spots go to Byrd, Kongbo, and either of Dickerson or Brown. Boom! All in!

No chance we turn away a 5* offensive lineman.

Normally, I would agree. But I don't see them dropping any of the 3 we already have, and I don't know what they have promised Stewart. Not sure we need 5 OL this cycle. Anyway, it is an interesting situation.

My question would be about the Bruce and Oliver blue shirts. I know someone posted they would have had to been given the scholarship by a given date, start of fall camp or whatever. Is it not possible they were awarded the scholarship before that exact day? I think they used July 31st and Aug 2nd in their comment. What if Bruce was given an open scholarship July 17th? Would it not count? Same with Oliver.

Just messing with you. As in transfer to GA or MSSU. Obviously wasn't a good joke.

Seems like officially awarding the scholarship prior to the second day of fall camp could defeat the whole purpose of the blue shirt. Someone with better knowledge/understanding of the situation could maybe chime in for sure.

I always thought the blue shirt meant you could be given one as soon as one became available. Not so much after a certain date. I'm not sure though.

My understanding is that a blue shirt is only about timing. The kid doesn't pay for anything, but he can only take the scholarship at a certain time for numbers purposes. It's not like a PWO where you have to prove yourself per se. Bruce and Oliver apparently had some off the field or attitude issues that made it easier to part ways.

Wow Ole Miss just pulled a Tunsil move on Auburn/UGA with Tre Nixon. All I have seen all year was UGA/Auburn with this kid; multiple visits to each school. He takes one visit to Ole Miss and boom he commits.dawg fans going crazy lol

What are they selling over there in Oxford?

All he's proven to me is that he needed a redshirt.

I would guess that the nation's number one juco player has the chance to be elite.

Good thing this is a both/and situation and not an either/or situation.

We need both Kongbo and Taylor.

Remember the kid that was all everything in juco and did really nothing at Miss. State. Think his last name was Autry. I wary of most juco linemen. They rarely come in and flat out dominate.
