'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

Needs to check out Malik Jackson.

I agree 100% and maybe he goes inside full time but hubbs validated the rumors about him being frustrated about playing inside and having to be rerecruited

Lord knows I am not one to have a lot of sympathy for a kids selfishness but IMO if Taylor and Phillips aren't Bigtime contributors in 2017 we will revert back to relying on freshmen all to much

Kongbo, the nation's No. 1 junior-college prospect, decommitted from Tennessee on Jan. 5 after being committed to the Vols for a little more than a month. But they haven’t fallen out of the picture since then. In fact, UT still seems to be in good shape with Kongbo despite his recent decision to reopen his recruitment, and there seems to be some optimism about the Vols’ chances going into his scheduled visit to Alabama this weekend. That could be an important trip for Kongbo, who’s also high on Ole Miss and Washington, among others.

I have honestly thought Kongbo was just a 3-2 guy all this time..if he is a 3-3 guy I am all for taking him. I hope KP will hang in there. Taylor should be fine.

Fwiw Hubbs said that Phillips moving inside was part of his frustrations this season.

This is not a everydown thing, its obvious pass rush situations. Bringing 4 DE in these situations makes all the sense in the world. This is not a situation that should frustrate anyone. Your guards then have to try to basically use a vertical set that tackles usually would and you have a better option for twists and other DL stunts.

The games the DL can play with this are insane for OL to deal with.

If we can hang on some major props to Shoop/G/Jones/Strip. It probably doesn't hurt that Shoop just had a walk on first yr starter win the Def Player of the Year award at his position.

good luck finding playing time then. Not gonna play over Allen, Hand and whoever else is already there on their deep ass roster.

"Saban has made his in-home with Kongbo before his Alabama visit. If the Vols could weather the weekend, could be good news for them. Jones hasn't made his in-home yet."

I like where this is going.

I haven't followed recruiting much this year, but why do some here say we may lead? Just curious. Its hard to beat out Alabama on the defensive side of the ball. Think Shoop is playing a part?

If anyone is wondering, #Alabama big visit weekend coming up Jan. 22. A mere 17 #ESPN300 prospects & #ESPNJC50 No. 4 among the visitors.

I think this plays into our favor. With 17 top notch players there along with what Bama already has in the stable it could be a bit overwhelming for Mr. Kongbo. Big fish small pond analogy may come into play....

Maybe. Depends on how many of those are committed. If a large amount of Those are committed it might be a lot of pressure
