I'm guilty. I'm highly offended at islam for wanting to decapitate and kill those who don't convert, throw homosexuals from roof tops, thinks its ok to rape young boys and girls, and thinks its ok to beat their wives. This is where I'm confused at you liberals. You claim to stand for homosexuals and women's rights, yet bow down to their beliefs, and scorn those of us against it. You can't support a homosexual and a religion who kills them at the same time. You can't support women's rights and equality and a people who belive its ok to beat them at the same time. I wouldn't say much about it here if the hypocrisy wasn't so obvious.
There are certainly archaic parts of the Koran that should be permanently deleted, but the Sunni's seem to be fairly reform minded at this point in time. Don't judge all of the members of the faith by the actions of a few.
As a Christian, what would you suggest we do about Islam?
I would say because Liberals are in charge of the White House. That gets changed around and plenty will be whining about a conservative President.
That a way to reduce the world to a simplistic narrative! I'll give you credit for this though: you at least took longer than 140 characters to make the world we actually live in look like a nice, neat linear and coherent narrative. Helps us feel like the world isn't as chaotic as it really is. I appreciate the security blanket you have offered all of us on here. I feel refreshed, because I can now fake solve newly simplified problems, like the conflict of Western and Islamic societies. And here I was previously under the false assumption that reducing everyone and everything to a vastly over-generalized statement couldn't solve anything! Thanks!
Liberals in the 24th Century:
Captain Picard, I'm sure there are a few extremists, but it's reprehensible that you would stereotype all of them like that.
Picard: Uh... They said they're here to assimilate us.
Yes. A few extremists have that goal, but its wrong to attribute that flawed mindset to all of them.
Picard: They're killing worlds on a bee-line to ours. They told us it's why they exist; it's their way of life.
We don't like that word.
Picard: Which one? Killing?
No. "They".
Picard: Bu...
You need to think very carefully about your next statement. Your career is on the line here. We can't have a Borgaphobe with access to plasma torpedos.
Picard: You removed all weapons from our ships 100 years ago. That's one of our problems.
[Laughter] The 22nd Century called. They want their foreign policy back.
Picard:

Doesn't change the fact that he embraced islam as a means of getting out of going to Vietnam. I like the guy personally, but he did what he did. He's a peaceful man. And a practicing muslim.
Are you referring to Clay/Ali? If so, you have no idea what you are talking about. Ali was drafted, went to an induction service, refused to step forward when his name was called, and was later convicted, and sentenced to 5 years in prison and fined $10,000 for refusing the draft. He was also banned from boxing for 3 years. This is why he is singled out. I remember it very well .Everybody who went to college was a pansy-ass draft dodger. Why does he get singled out?

I, and millions of college students like me, were in school, not called up, did not refuse induction, and were never charged with anything. There is a difference.
I took no stance on Ali one way or the other. I didn't say that he was right or wrong. I just pointed out that he broke the law at that time. There is no difference from my point of view. I don't care about legality, I care about right and wrong. Ali refused to give up his liberty and told the government to **** off. I admire that.
Affluent people had a legal loophole. What am I supposed to admire about that? I don't fault them for using it, but they had the good fortune to not have to take a stance. Ali took a stance, and the peanut gallery still gets off on judging him. Hey, if you can rub one out to righteous indignation, be my guest.
If you don't have the right to choose whether you enlist or not, you do not live in a free country and your government is not worthy of your service.

All that I am saying is that pursuing a college education was not considered breaking the law at that time, and does not make one a draft dodger. I sure as Hell didn't want to go, and I don't blame any man for pulling whatever strings he had to pull.
If that makes you think you win the argument, fine. I went to college because it was expected of me, and I had good grades and entrance test scores. I never considered the draft one way or the other in my decision to go to college in 1967, however I certainly didn't want to drop out and volunteer once I got there.Did going to school allow you to dodge the draft? Yes? Then that would technically make you a draft dodger.
You just did it legally.
