Doudt Wilcox will return to the south. He is a West Coast guy. Isn't he at USC?

Randy Shannon wanted everything imaginable the last time we thought he was coming here to replace Wilcox. So, that won't work. bUTch is not desperate enough to give in to his unreasonable demands.

Heard Clancy Pendergast's name mentioned for some other openings but not this one. Did USC end up grabbing him?

Butch should have already had a coach on the line if this was his decision. If not then why would Jancek want to leave ? There is more going on than what is being told. The fact that we have lost 3 very good D prospects and then this . Would anyone like to speculate on this matter.

I don't think anything is done with Shoop and I don't think he's the only candidate so no I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone else. But that doesn't mean he's not a candidate. I just don't think it's as far down the road with him as some others do.

that's what we're doing.

i don't know that the decommittments have anything to do with it, or vice versa,, but i do think that depending on who the hire is, that it could maybe put us back over the top with some of the guys we are trying to close on.

there's an article posted a couple pages back from an LSU page about Shoop, and one of the things it did say was that he's not known for his recruiting. not sure that it matters or not, but being at TN, and knowing we have to recruit nationally, i would think it would make sense to have good recruiters...everything else was a glowing review...LSU i think would have felt very lucky and glad to have him.

by all accounts, the guy is a good coach.

The class could actually get better just because Jancek is gone. Nothing personal against the guy but if other programs have been negative recruiting UT by using Jancek then Jones' action should be very well received.

The fact that he was pretty much fired... may provide some evidence for those on the fence that Jones is determined to win and do what's right for the program even if he has to part ways with a friend.

I think the recruiting class is important and at a critical point as well. I just see Jancek's departure as a possible positive for recruiting in and of itself.

I don't know who it will be, but some of the players are saying that it is a good thing that Jancek was "crazy" and they are glad to see him go. Butch has someone in mind or he wouldn't be making this move!
