'16 AZ DE Jonathan Kongbo UT Signee 2/3/16

I would be lying if I said that this didn't suck, but Barnett, Vereen, Lewis, Phillips, Taylor, and Butcher are six good reasons to not freak out.

Recruiting is a funny thing. Reeled in studs all over the field when we sucked. Now having to work a little harder to get guys to stick with an imminent title contender.

Really wanted Kongbo in Orange, but knew it was a longshot.

So you got an advance copy of our final signee list?...the rest of us have to wait. :good!:

If we do finish strong, then great. That'll be awesome. I'm hoping Butch pulls out some surprises for us. But let's play a game of what ifs for just a second. What if we don't pull in a strong class? Don't you see that hurting us in the long run? If we don't stay strong in recruiting, we lose the depth chart. At some point, that's going to have a negative impact. And this isn't about next year, this is about the year after that and going forward. We can't expect freshmen to come in and play at a high level every year. Most players need at least a year of adjustment to the college game.

I agree with your sentiment that it's too early to write this class off, but I also think if we don't finish strong, the ripple effect is eventually going to hurt us, and no one wants to drop back down to where we were.

One class? Of "not great"? Will trump the others? No...not buying the doom.

The freshmen we will sign this year are more talented than the seniors who are leaving. Same will likely be true next year. After that, things will plateau with some classes better than others. That's how you build a program, and make no mistake, this program is still building for two more years at least.

We still may pull in a good class, but indications, SO FAR, is that we will not, and Please NO Big Fish expectations on NSD. It does not happen very often, especially compared to the rumors & expectations. In other words, I doubt it.

There is a big 3 out there (Warrior, Brown and Dickerson) who have become very important to the overall perception of this class. I actually feel good about all of them but if we do strike out then it will be a huge disappointment... although we did address the most critical need with Guarantano. If JG has a great career, it will be hard to look back on 2016 as a failure.

Gee, I guess that's why two classes in a row ranked 15th and 17th really killed Ole Miss.

This class we'll be fine. I imagine we add another stud or two, but miss out on some other big targets as well. But no matter the ranking, we picked up some really, really talented guys at the top of this class. We got a QB with as much talent as any in the 2016 class, a corner who has the potential to be a lockdown Cam Sutton replacement for us, an OT with all the measurables you look for, and the top JUCO DT.

There are a lot of other guys in this class like CFA, Bituli who have all the tools to be great players for us and should have the luxury of redshirting before getting a chance to crack the lineup in 2016. This class is and will be fine. We have a lot of talent on our roster and will through 2017 at least.

Apparently not committable yet. We will see what happens when it becomes that way

I imagine they didn't expect him to commit so soon and slow played him with Velus jones and others that we missed on still out there at the time... He is better than a few of our WR commits IMO
