'16 FL OT Marcus Tatum (UT commit 1/11/16)

It’s a two-way race between Florida and Tennessee for Marcus Tatum, but the three-star offensive tackle is tabling his decision until the playoffs are over.

“It’s a battle between them two,” Tatum reaffirmed to SEC Country.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound senior from Daytona Beach, Fla., maintained both schools have shown him and his family enough, from the coaching staff to the players in the locker room.

But there are two other factors that could potentially help steer him towards his decision: Academics and teammate Jachai Polite, who committed to Florida on Nov. 12. Tatum said he and Polite are ‘extremely close’ both on and off the field.

The three-star senior offensive tackle from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Fla., traveled to Tampa, Fla., on Monday to attend one of Tennessee’s practices for the Outback Bowl, and he said the Vols still are one of four teams he’s strongly considering.

“It went really good. It was just good to watch the practice, talk to the players and things like that,” “It was good just to see them out of their recruiting aspect and just see how the practices goes, how the practice flows, how the coaches coach. It was good to watch it.”

The 6-foot-6.5, 255-pound Tatum said Florida, Tennessee, Miami and Alabama are the teams currently standing out to him, and he’s scheduled to take official visits to Florida the weekend of Jan. 15 and Miami the weekend of Jan. 22 before making his college choice. He said he’s also considering visiting Alabama the weekend of Jan. 29.

Tatum went to Tennessee on his first official visit the weekend of Nov. 6, visiting the Vols for the second time

It is interesting, other "sources" had said UT's (and others') interest had waned a bit as he had dropped weight down to 245, and some schools are still looking at him as more of a blocking TE. Very good athleticism, just get out the peanut butter.

this will be a good option at OL. options are waning closer to NSD. i gaurantee Butch has a card or two to play. but, we need to stop the bleeding and gain some MO.

UF is concerned about weight issue as well. He's definitely headed for a RS as a freshman.

I touched base with Marcus Tatum tonight and his lead recruiter at Miami was Larry Scott. He said it added to how comfortable he is with the staff at Tennessee.

The reports on Tatum's size has me concerned. I know Niehaus needs to add weight. I prefer only one project at OT for this class.
