Auburn Alumni told me if Gus loses today he's out.

Kevin Steele might want to wait to confirm that story. I think Memphis wins today.

I don't see the point. Their season has already been a failure. If they wanted to fire him, they should have done it long ago and moved on.

I don't know. Auburn always has a quick trigger. Tubberville was a year or two removed from undefeated season.

Chizick was 2 years removed from a Natty.

Auburn gonna fahr him and go after Chip.

Haha

That sounds like something the arrogant alum I was talking about would say (family BTW).

I agree he's more likely to be fired next season. Why announce a staff change just prior to firing Gus?

Auburn fans are the worst

Chip Kelly isn't going to Auburn, if any college school gets him it's Texas. They would throw the bank at the guy. But most likely the Titans or Browns get him.

That doesn't make sense to me. Why would a bowl game against Memphis decide his fate? If they wanted to make a move, they would have done it a month ago.

I just heard the Auburn Rivals guy on Memphis radio, and he said Gus will be on the hot seat next year regardless. But, a win makes you feel good during the offseason.

With whats being said about chip and the way he treats his players and being a control freak, I don't see him being a good sec coach. You gotta have stars in the sec and chip doesn't work well with star players. The whole sports science crap and practicing full speed before game day is ridiculous, at some point you have to get a feel for how the players feel about that or you'll lose the locker room. I'm an eagles fan so my opinion might be a little biased since he ruined our roster

They will save $2.2 million after December 31 on his buyout.

I said it last year when some posters were pining for him to "save us". The dude's a mad genius X's and O's hermit who is totally not interested in the aspects of program building, such as recruiting and high school/alumni relationships. Bellotti built the infrastructure of that at Oregon and Kelly had "people" handle the majority of that when he took over. Was surprised at his power grab last season but I suspect it was more about final say over his roster than it was about vision...since the personnel dude that was fired with him directed the scouting and handled contracts. All Kelly wants to do is draw up plays in his laboratory and unleash them on opponents. Boosters, alumni, hell! even FANS are canker sores. NFL is the shangri-la for Belichick types and Kelly is a variation of that...minus the personnel acumen.

You also never hear ex players bashing belichick. I think belichick and Saban are more player friendly than they lead on. They know that players win games, not coaches

Overall I believe you're right, however, CBB has had some player criticism, most notably Revis and Ty Law. OTOH, that's inevitable anywhere, anytime...

I heard ex players bash both...Todd Collins for Bill and Plaxico Burress for Saban...impossible to avoid but you're right, not an inordinate amount. Of course both have two to three times the HC experience. Kelly was a longtime assistant...much of it logged at the lower division college level.

Who do you guys think will win the auburn vs memphis and tamu vs louisville games? I've got auburn and louisville, but I've been back and forth on them. I was back and forth on the pitt vs navy game and got burned. My biggest reason picking auburn was Fuente leaving.

Plaxico was dogging him for leaving sparty not on the field issues right?

Not for leaving...for trying to convince Plaxico not to declare for the draft...and then leaving. The former players bashing Kelly seem to be players that he jettisoned or Murray...who took a money grab and tanked.

Lot of Tennessee plates and a sea of orange heading into Florida. It's like a Big Orange Caravan-- UT flags flying, horns honking, Gator fans flipping us off. Good times!

Hyams just tweeted...

Outback has sold 50k tickets to 65,657 stadium. UT bought 12000, Northwestern 8000. UT fans bought 1000s more directly from bowl.
