Is Barnes too tough on his players?

Yeah the sweet sixteen sucked. All hail the coach that couldn't make it out of the first round for 8 years. Texas fans get it,enjoy the golden parachute has-been coach.

At least you could use facts.....he made it to an elite eight 8 yrs ago and also made it out of the first round every other yr but two......you act like we were going to sweet sixteens every year..... We made one....didn't even make the tourney the two yrs before and wasn't going to make it in year four.

Barnes is ready to retire! I won't be surprised if he retired in the next 3 years. He doesn't even seem enthusiastic during the games! Next year he may be a little more firmer and enthused because majority of the players will be his recruited players.

He was pretty pissed off and animated today.

I'm starting to wonder if any of you have ever actually watched Barnes coach. He's never been overly animated. So if you're judging him on that, you're doing it wrong.

IMO, CRB is determined and ready to prove his doubters wrong. This was not a one year fix. He has a solid 2016 class that will be the foundation for the next few years.
The big if is can he convince a star to come to UT. If he can bring in a couple of scorers, we may make some noise in 2017.
I think he is very focused on the job he needs to do. Will that guarantee success? No, I do not think it will for lack of effort on his part.

In the post game he said that he really likes this team and he thinks that they are capable of making some noise this year. He said if just one big would play defense with the effort of Moore, they'll be in good shape.

Coached too hard? Poor babies. Give them their safe zone and a blankie. WTH is going on these days.

I'm wondering why Alexander got the start and then we never saw him. Yeah he got beat a few times. But double up if that's what it takes.

TN State had a couple of hosses that were just pushing their way to the basket for easy points. Alexander didn't have a chance. Kasongo was a better matchup, but Reese and Moore eventually had the assignment. Kasongo was lost on offense.

This. He has always sat the bench a lot. He internally processes what he sees and communicates with his assistants until TO's. That has always been his style.

I prefer Barnes' style far more than Pearl's animated clown act. I like that he lets his players have the spotlight instead of being being an attention ho like u know who.

I doubt that his sideline clown act is the reason he's reeled some in. He's a salesman... his recruits don't know what hit them.

I don't think either coaches sideline demeanor has anything to do with their recruiting.... I had no issues with the way Pearl acted while here.... Most fun I have ever had watching Tennessee basketball

I don't ever want to see Pearl on TN's sideline again.

It will be interesting to see if he can repeat his best years at TN down at Auburn. It has to hurt to not have Jones, Shay, and Forbes sitting next to him.

I hope he loses every single game at Auburn.... Don't really want Pearl any more but I would take a coach just like him in a heart beat

And inheriting a team with a future NBA point guard and maybe the best shooter in UT history.
