Manning linked to HGH by Documentary (key witness has recanted)

LOL. This isn't a court case, this is public opinion. The burden is on Peyton Manning because it's his legacy on the line.

Just like the burden was on Mark McGwire and all those baseball players that Jose Canseco names as steroid users before any concrete evidence was found.

You really dont understand how this works. Peyton doesnt have to prove anything. His legacy is not on the line. The guy who made up this story has already said he made everything up. So tell me, what does Peyton have to prove?

The burden wasnt on McGuire and those guys. It was on the ones making the claim against them.

Here is a scenario that will put in terms you will relate to.

You- Dobbs is a better QB than Manning

Me- No he isnt

You- yes he is

Me- prove it

I know its silly but think about it. Who in this public opinion conversation is the burden of proof on? Its on you because you MADE THE CLAIM.

Same with Peyton. A CLAIM was made against him. Now, the one who made the claim must provide evidence to support it. Peyton doesnt have to do anything. I honestly thought you were smarter than this. Sadly, I was wrong.

Ask yourself this. When does a person have a greater motivation to lie? When he is being secretly recorded and doesn't think what he's saying will ever be publicly known? Or after he has become a national story and is in danger of losing his career and potentially his freedom to jail?

I personally think Sly has more motivation to lie now AFTER admitting on hidden camera to engaging in illegal behavior than he did at the time when he didn't think his illegal behavior would be publicly known.

Most often, pressure pulls liars back toward the truth. They are more likely to lie when they think they'll get away with it, that no one is watching too closely.

In other words, D4H, just the opposite of what you're saying.

I think the overwhelming sentiment is hope that it is not true. He's been such a great, pure ambassador for the game. The problem is that we have had sports icons over and over get accused of this, vehemently deny it, then confess. As a result, people are jaded and prepared for the worst.

Anyone else and your right, but not with PM!! I would be shocked if he used HGH!

So you admit he is lying? Why does he need to lie now? IF it was true it will be true. Why back track? You are not making sense now.

I assume he's doing it now to protect himself from prosecution and to protect his business. I doubt any athlete would want to be involved in his supplement company now that these allegations have come to light. He was also caught on camera admitting to possession and traffic of illegal drugs. I'm sure that could open him to potential prosecution.

If you watched the documentary, this was about more than naming names. It was about the undercover world of athletic drug trafficking. Sly has a lot of motivation to lie now versus when he didn't know he was being recorded.

Well if he has eviedence of Manning's guilt, then why recant everything? Why keep it under wraps for so long? Why not produce it and legitimize yourself instead of looking like a total bafoon?

Sly was caught on camera in possesion of illegal drugs. He admitting to traffiking in illegal drugs. This is about a lot more than naming names.

I personally think the motivation to lie is stronger in the face of potential criminal prosecution than when you think you are saying something in the privacy of your home.

You cannot be prosecuted for simply saying you sold illegal drugs.

No, D4H, the motivation when caught doing something illegal is to STFU and look for a good lawyer.

The motivation when caught lying in a way that might get you sued for millions is to confess you were lying and hope you don't pay for it the rest of your life.

You can if you are caught on camera giving illegal drugs to an undercover agent. Now obviously the reporter isn't a cop but he could testify against Sly if he was ever prosecuted.

This prosecution wouldn't be about drugs allegedly given to nfl players. It would be about the drugs Sly have to the undercover reporter.

The guy was trafficking illegal drugs. Drugs that can only be prescribed by a doctor for a specific medical purpose.

Dude is on camera with illegal drugs trying to sell them to the undercover reporter.

This is how cops do drug busts all the time.

The first poster in VN history that should be banned just because of how stupid your posts are. What a troll.

You are always trying to make people out to be racists if they don't think Dobbs is beyond criticism...which he isnt..and play the race card so much that a BLACK GATOR FAN called you out for it in the NCAA forum (thanks Lawrence btw)

Now you are fiercely arguing against a Tennessee legend and the best ambassador our university has ever had. First ballot HOF inductee...college and pro...and a class guy 2ho gives millions to UT and comes back to work with the QBS every fall. So you are going to publicly trash him based on the testimony of a drug dealer who has already said it was a lie???

What a loser. The worst poster on this site. Hands down.I am embarrassed that you wear orange. Supposedly anyway. Troll.

You have been wrong about most of this. Do you really want to continue digging this hole? Just stop now and admit that you have no idea what you're talking about.

HGH is sold legally...and allegedly was being sold legally to Ashley...hence the SHIPPING. He wasn't throwing drugs up in the air and snorting ala Scarface...he was running his mouth and dumb people sucked it up.

Don't confuse D4H, he is in liberal never never land. Here is a guy willing to sell out Peyton while believing some guy who has lied about something. One way or the other the guy lied, that is obvious. But, D4H will never admit that, kinda along the lines he makes about Dobbs, who is about = Brandon Harris, but, he will never admit that either. Bet if Peyton weren't so pale he wouldn't be on the bashing bandwagon. IMHO

Hmmm. I wonder what D4H's motivation is here to keep this non story going. Does anyone know? Anyone at all?

Apparently they still are.

Stop focusing on Manning. I'm talking about his dealings with the undercover agent. He was selling illegal drugs to the undercover Al-Jazeera reporter. That is the criminal behavior he engaged in.

The Manning stuff is what has gotten this story the attention but it's not the focus of the investigation.

Sheesh some of you should watch the documentary before arguing about it.

Maybe I saw the documentary and am calling bullsh#t on the people who haven't?

I personally don't care if Peyton took HGH. I'm not one of those naive people who think athletes don't try to get any edge they can. I'm sure many other nfl players use HGH.

These allegations don't detract from Manning's legacy IMO. He's still the best QB I've ever seen.

I just don't put my head in the sand and pretend this whole story is a Arab conspiracy to destory Peyton Manning.

LOL. I bet 99% of you haven't even seen the documentary.

Peyton Manning is the best QB I've ever seen. I'm not a Peyton fan since his time at UT was before I started watching football. I did however grow up a Titans fan and did watch him destroy the titans all the time. That is where my respect for him as a football player comes from.

Maybe it's because I'm not a blind Manning fan that I can look at the story objectively. If you watch the documentary, I don't know how you can't come away thinking something happened.

This isn't some middle eastern plot to destroy Peyton Manning. This is just a good investigation that happened to name a guy who is a hero for many around here.

Maybe it takes someone like me that is emotionally detached from this to see it for what it is.

I'll go with you are easily swayed to believe things that fit your racial agenda. Who watches and does not watch the documentary is pointless. People who choose to watch it are only giving credibility to those that doesn't deserve any. Speaks volumes about a person's character when they join some bs witchhunt. A witchhunt I might add that even the people who started it are backing away from. I realize your head isn't in the sand. It's where it generally is, up your backside.

Got to disagree. Manning is the target of Al J. This would never get world press without his name in the middle. It's to early to even be hinting guilt of a Tennessee hero.:loco::loco:

Saw it. Looked like something the Spike Channel concocted...about Bigfoot selling drugs. :)

That's a little naive. Al Jazeera is happy to tarnish the United States and its icons at any opportunity. It doesn't have to be a knockout blow at the political leaders, or an explicit attack on American values. It can be 100 little paper cuts at many levels of our society, including tarnishing widely known and respected members of our society.

Why? Well, that's simple. Because tarnishing America sells, to their primary market.

The statement is less important than the links. Follow them, check out references 12 through 18--several respectable and reliable sources in there. Feel free to learn more about this very biased "news source."

Al Jazeera was happy to pursue this story, to give it an international outlet, with very little to no fact checking. Shoddy, shoddy journalism by an agent with a history of bias.

I won't argue that they lack bias. I'm sure they're biased. I just fail to see how running an attention grab article trying to cause a scandle is an attack on American values. American news outlets do that kind of thing all the time. Is TWC attacking American values with their scandle mongering? We all love Peyton but not everything is a political statement. It's an attention grab plain and simple. MSNBC and Fox News run with unfounded speculation all the time. The only real difference is the audience they are selling to. Actual journalism is dead.
